I'm in the semi-finals of my pay league, playing for a guaranteed $275 and a possible $725. I have a couple of questions on who I should start in this important game. At QB: Plummer @ Chiefs or Vick v. Carolina? Leaning towards Plummer due to the Chiefs horrendous defense, but Vick may do really well this week stat-wise with no Duckett. On the flipside of that, the Panthers can really focus on Vick this weekend. At WR: Kennison v. Broncos, Burleson @ Lions, or Boldin v. St. Louis? My other two receivers are Javon Walker and David Patten. I'd hate to bench Kennison because he helped me comeback from an 11-point deficit on Monday night, but he did catch only two passes, even though they were both TDs. They only looked his way one other time that night. Burleson is hit and miss and with Moss back, may be even more so. Boldin had a breakout yardage game last week and it seems that a TD is inevitable soon. I'm leaning towards Boldin. At RB: There's really not a question here since I have Westbrook and Portis as my two RBs. However, last week, I really gave serious thought to benching the inconsistent Portis for Kevin Jones. They ended up getting nearly identical scores this week. I have a feeling that Jones will have a good game against the Vikings defense, but both Portis and Westbrook have easy opposing defenses as well in the Niners and Cowboys, respectively. I'm just throwing this one out there to see if anyone had any thoughts. So, who should I start?
I'd go with Plummer - Vick is the better player obviously, but he's playing the better defense, and his numbers are almost as erratic as Plummer's Boldin - best talent available, and Kennison should only be started out of desperation Kevin Jones, Westbrook - this one is a toss up I guess, but KJ has been on a hot streak as of late and I just don't trust Portis(or Gibbs) at all
Crisco, even against the Niners defense? It seems like they may be able to move the ball pretty well against them. I'd just hate to bench Portis and lose because of it. That may be something I could never live down.
Plummer's last two games have been nightmarish for fantasy owners (I should know) but he had a red hot november and is facing the Chiefs Defense which is a bascially a cake walk. Michael Vick is not a good fantasy QB really, The best you could hope for is account for 3 TDs and gets you 200 yards passing 85 rushing Eddie Kennison has saved my fantasy team, I was stuck with Chris Chambers and a bunch of scrubs after Steve Smith went down, but this guy has put up very solid numbers week in and week out for the past month and a half. Look for the Broncos to put Champ Bailey on Tony Gonzalez more often and Green to look deep for Kennison. Westbrook is a must start against the Cowboys, the Niners Defense is actually not too shaby against the run and Portis has been so erratic all season. I'd also go with the Bold move and start Kevin Jones simply because the Lions have basically given up on Harrington leading them to victory.
I can totally dig that, just my own personal preference. I think Portis might do well, but that KJ has a better chance at having a monster game. How many big games has portis had all year, against even bad teams? Portis may be the safer pick, but he almost sunk one of my teams this year and I haven't started him for a while now. And if for some reason you take my wild and crazy advice don't hound me for the money you lost.
Thanks for nothing, guys. I'm leaning towards Jones now, actually. Minnesota's run d isn't all that great.
Heed my words, 95. At QB: Michael Vick. You have to go with the players that got you to the dance. Playing the matchup game is a good way to get burned. At WR: I would start Javon Walker and Anquan Boldin for sure. It's a toss up between Kennison and Patten. If pressed, I would go with Eddie Kennison. At RB: Clinton Portis and Brian Westbrook. Portis is finishing the season strong, and Westbrook is a better option than Jones.
I did go with Kennison. Jones was three points better than both Portis and Westbrook, who I went with. My problem is that my opponent started Volek. I'm up 113-102 with Patten going tonight. However, he's got Viniateri and the Pats D. If I can get a TD and 60 yds, I should be good.
Patriots D sux0rs tonight! I'm in the championship game in my league with this Roster. QB - Griese, Plummer RB - Goings, McAllister WR - Kennison, Chambers, Bryant, Parker, Gabriel, Toomer, McDonald K - Stover DEF - Buffalo Buffalo Defense is MVP of the league
Hey moe, I never could get to the yahoo page with our teams and stuff. As a result, I had to use the same lineup against rule as I used against SF3. I am assuming I lost but can you tell me how the matchups went this past weekend?
Vick defeated you 97-88 and I defeated Sonny 97-91. You should have got a hold of me and I could have swapped someone else in for you. The only difference you could have made was if you had went with the Bucs D instead of Pittsburgh.
Yea, I finally was able to get on there and see for myself. I think if you ask 10 people if they had a choice between Pittsburgh's defense and Tampa Bay's defense on which to start, that all 10 would pick Pittsburgh. Good luck against rule this coming weekend.
I'm in my Championship game this week as well. Here is my lineup: T. Green M. Harrison J. Horn C. Portis M. Pittman J. Brown WAS or NE haven't decided yet. My Bench: D. Brees M. Robinson D. Blaylock C. Brown L. Suggs J. Wilkins
