My dad was an alcoholic and constantly said how he knew what he was doing was wrong. Him "admitting" he had a problem when there was a problem became his out for doing the right thing.

You know arguing with T_J is silly. Instead of saying that you know what the right thing is, just do it.

I think that there are very few posters on this board that take anything that T_J says seriously anymore so you have nothing to prove. And that isn't entirely a personal knock on T_J because I feel that he can be quite intelligent and makes strong points/arguements occassionally. His delivery and ego are just horrendous.

Batman, I have to say that you've exercised admirable control, considering that when you make a post, within a couple of minutes of each other Trader_J and texxx are attempting to get your goat, and have lowered themselves to slander on more than one occasion. I do agree with rimbaud that this is one of those instances where there are no winners. The just are soiled by making their defense, as it were, by acknowledging those who seek to demean them.

Press on and keep posting. What do you think of Warner of Virginia for '08?

“America is a country that was born of revolution, and Americans’ best values are hard work and innovation. Our country has always been at its best when we’ve given everyone a fair shake and their own shot at the American dream. Americans are ready to step up and meet our challenges. The time is right for us to lead again”. Mark Warner - July 25, 2005

Not too shabby a quote. I wouldn't mind seeing him as #1 or #2 on the ticket. We need fresh faces.

Just wanted to add that most of the polls are "public." Don't know why this one isn't.

    Deckard, Baiter, rimbaud:

Since it seems to be a commonly accepted fact here that it's stupid to ever respond to Jorge, why is he still posting in this forum? If it's meant to be understood that we shouldn't debate him, why is he in a debate forum except to troll? I actually think the spy scandal is a huge deal. When Jorge or anyone else comes into a thread I started to say they have proof it isn't, I'm going to respond. He should have been banned a long time ago, but for whatever reason he hasn't been. That's not on me and I'm going to continue to put the lie to his ridiculous posts, whether he's trolling or not.

    Jorge:

So far there have been three people that said I was wrong to even engage you in discussion, since it is apparently always a mistake to give you any acknowledgment at all. And there have been zero people that said you were right about anything. You must be on top of the world.

    p.s. to Deckard:

Warner seems fine. I don't know enough about him yet and nobody else really does either. As for now, I'm totally with Feingold.

Feingold/Warner? Warner/Feingold? I don't know enough about him, either. That link I provided makes him sound like he delivered Virginia from the Devil himself, but it's a "draft Warner" website, so what do you expect? ;)

Hey, I'm livid about the NSA/F.I.S.A. scandal, which is nothing less than high treason, and the rape of the Constitution. I haven't heard one iota of defense of Bush for what he did that is any more than pathetic. It saddens me to see the lengths people will go to defend a traitor, and that's what Bush has been exposed as.

I don't know why Trader_J is still in D&D. I guess the mods think he's funny.

Trader_J, you must be grateful for modern technology. Your "file" on Batman would be a heavy burden to carry around with you. Considering how he's been vilified and slandered by you two, I think he's been quite restrained. How many times have the two of you "accused" him of posting while drunk? I've lost track. What slays me is that I know you could post some reallly good stuff if "that was your thing." Clearly, it's not. That's a pity.

Yeah Jorge, you're right. You and basso and a few others have succeeded in baiting me into calling names by calling me pro-terror, anti-Christian and other horrible things. For whatever reason the mods apparently think that's fine and dandy and that the rest of us here, when confronted with that sort of awful slander should just laugh you off as a joke. Most of the time I do that. Other times I haven't. You can't win an argument to save your life, but I figure you don't care about that. I know you take it as a much greater point of "psychological warrior" pride to bait people into losing their tops. I just don't know why you do. At any rate, you've acted like a dick and I've called you one. I admit it. You should feel very proud.

Your iota of defense is that 50% of those polled think this has been done by previous administrations, and 25% think it's a possibility that this isn't a first.

    Doesn't make it right...by a long shot.

And while the hyperbole is likely justified in this case....it's been going on so long that many are just tired of it. Crying wolf just doesn't have the same zest it used to....even if there's a whole pack of them standing on the hill this time.

I'm not justifying here....just trying to understand ;).

It's not hyperbole, it's high treason. No offense intended, but it's attitudes like you have that allows this sort of abomination to occur. The Bush Administration has gotten away with so much that they have come to believe that they can get away with anything.

That was how Nixon felt when he signed off on Watergate. There was no reason to bug the Democratic Headquarters, because Nixon had that election won by a landslide already. His hubris, and paranoia, led him to do it anyway. The attitude of Americans as they went to the polls that year, except for those like myself (yes, I voted in that election for McGovern... something I'm very proud of), was that the story was so ludicrous that there was no way Nixon could have done it. To their dismay, they found out differently.

Even Nixon's own party turned on him, deciding that patriotism trumped any assault on our Constitution.

Where is that Republican Party today??

All right, all right, enough of this nonsense.

To be fair to the conservative side here, I used to post from time to time in here, but it really does get old when there's a 5-1 ratio of left vs. right wingers, and for every post you write, you get five arguments, insults, and people agreeing with the former two.

It gets old, and I'm sure I'm not the only conservative to say "I'm taking a break", which, unfortunately skews this board even further to the left.

To be fair, I've been offensive before, as has BJ, TJ, and BTexxx. I've even seen Deckard be offensive a few times, and he's keeping D&D Civil... As for Samfishy? He's as offensive on the left as TJ is on the right.

Until this board can be on a more level scale politically, expect these kind of diatribes to be neverending...

Deckard - what's funny is that the liberals resort to insults/cursing FAR more than the conservatives do. T_J's post is just one illustration of that.

At least you know when to take a break. I think a few self-imposed/mod-imposed breaks would do the D&D some good.

    I disagree..

I think the reason there is a 5 to 1 scale is because the 1 side knows in their hearts that they've made their bed and now they have to lie [sic] in it and are too ashamed to admit being lied to and falling for it. They're in too deep to back out now without being humiliated.

They have no argument left except deflection and slander or silence.

I stated in another thread that this whole "owned" thing was nothing more than rhetorical masturbation well we got a full on circle jerk here.

    Puhlease....

I would say this thread is a new low but I get the feeling that the floor can go lower.

like that chamber room in the Haunted Mansion at DisneyWorld..."is this haunted room actually stretching? or is it your imagination? and consider this dismaying observation: this chamber has no windows and no doors. which leaves you with this chilling challege: to find a way out!! HA HA HA HA!! Of course..there's always my way...."
