For whatever reason the bloom is now off the rose...there was a time when the front page was filled with Nachbar threads pondering the mystery of his hidden talents.

Now that we've all gotten a peek at what he can do, the fervor has subsided a bit. Nachbar seems to have taken up residence in the usual spot: at the end of the bench. Barring injuries or trades, it looks like that's where he'll be for the rest of the season.

In less than a year, Nachbar will be entering his 3rd season and it will be time to pick up/decline the option for his 4th season...

So: do the Rox pull the trigger? Or should they? Can Boki be saved or is he on the way out? It certainly doesn't seem like he's one of jeff's boys....

JVG is caught in a tough bind with Boki i guess he needs minutes to get better, but will that negatively effect the teams performance... the way Jim Jackson is shooting, not sure how Boki would hurt, except Jax is also playing a PG type role aswell.

Boki is going to be a decent player in the league, but he needs some minutes to get his defense up to speed and in general adjust to the speed of the show....

JVG must find some minutes for him, can't the rotation, run Jax and Mobes as Steve's back-up, lose Mooch's minutes and give some of them to Boki

Boki got suubstantial minutes early in the season. He just needs more time on the court. With the way things are going, he can't make things worse. I agree with Smeg. I saw some flashes of a good player, but it seemed as soon as he was getting comfortable, JVG put him at the end of the bench.

I definatly think he should be getting some playing time. I think we should have Pike back up SG and Mobley back up PG and give Boki backup SF duties. Mooch hasn't really shown much if any improvemnt from last season and Boki is much more deserving of those minutes.

There will be even fewer minutes to go around once AG comes off the IL. Boki may become a ball boy.

Yeah, meant to put that in the original post, another element of the logjam . . . whither him too.

    I agree with DrLudicrous

Boki's role is what Mooch's role should be.

I really would like to have JJ and Mobes share backup pg duty to give Boki some minutes instead of Mooch.

But Boki shouldn't be getting minutes ahead of JJ or Pike, imho. Griff should be behind Boki as far as sf minutes go though.

The only reason the Rockets should pull the plug on Nachbar is if he doesn't learn that during home games, if the Rockets score 100 points, the fans get free Big Macs!!!

When Boki dribbled out the clock during the Clippers game (99-85 HOU), he got boo'd!! He immediately turned in to the Burger Nazi (a la Seinfeld)...

Agreed, he started to go for it then hesitated and looked back. That was the doom of our free big mac's :(

atleast he showed he wanted to go for it, instead of Mo Taylor dunking the ball when we needed a three!

Bah. He showed genuine talent when he got the chance. But, for whatever reason, he doesn't "fit in" with the concept of what JVG wants.

    Bleh.

i'm confused... are you implying that francis was telling him not to take the shot and by doing this francis is behind our burger debacle?
or... francis shook his head because he didn't take the shot?

C'mon, isn't Houston the most obese city in the nation? They ought to be giving away free salads if the team hits 100. ;)

This is one part of Van Gundy's rotation that I don't understand. The best starting team in preseason had Boki at the 3. He's good at getting the ball into Yao and playing off Yao and he can hit the 3 if given the minutes. I don't understand why he isn't getting 15-20 minutes per game. Frankly, I think he should be starting at the 3 and MoT starting at the 4 with JJ, Pike, and Cato coming off the bench for the 2nd team. Yes, he lacks defensively, but he helps balance the offense attack. We still get the D from JJ.

Steve probably shook his head because it isn't right to rub your victory in the other team's faces but Boki would of shot an air ball anyway.

I wanted Nachbar to succeed. I wanted Terence Morris and Eddie Griffin to succeed as well. But we blew ALL THREE picks. Sorry, but I am getting closer and closer to closing the door on Nachbar. :(

I knew when Pike came back Nachbar would be grabbing pine. He just does not have the outside shot to keep teams honest. That is why Padgett gets more minues than Nachbar. Nachbar is WAY to hesitant on offense, especially on drives to the basket. And he isn't nearly the "finisher" we were led to believe by Rudy! His defense is ok I guess but nothing steller. Just does not ADD any dimension to the team when he is on the floor and that is why he is sitting.

This team has CLEARLY been set back by the failings of their recent draft picks (Yao obviously not withstanding).

I normally see Van Gundy's coaching logic and I was happy with the addition of Jim Jackson, but why is a 33 year old Jackson playing 35+ mpg? JJax played 20 mpg as a King and hasn't played 35 mpg since the 99-00 season when he was 29 years old.

In fact IMO, Steve, Cat, and JJ all play too many minutes. If we're going to play 48 minutes of tough, rotating D, we need to be fresh. There would be more minutes in a 9 man rotation. I guess we're playing playoff style intensity all season long. I hope it works.
