White Sox are playing like a team of destiny. Complete games one after another, every little thing they are doing right.
The stars are aligning just right. Bagwell and Frank Thomas were born on the same day. Bagwell and Thomas have both won MVP. They both have played for just one team. They both have played first base. They both have errily similar numbers. They both cannot help their teams this year because they are broken down and injured. The Astros are going to the World Series.
What I'm wondering is what shape the White Sox pitchers will be in the World Series? Will the complete games take a toll on the starters and will the relievers be rusty?
The Sox bullpen will become an issue in the World Series when they play on the road and pitchers have to bat. It's unlikely you will see the complete games if the games are tight.
This White Sox team does look like a team of destiny. They got every break to go their way. Their pitching is very tough and they do all the little things right. It will be a tough matchup for the Stros in the WS. Let's hope that whatever curse that Chicago had for the last century or so strikes again in the WS.
then again, Clemen's mother mentioned "Shoeless Joe Jackson" 3 times during her final hours. then there are so many controversal plays during the ALCS.... This is kind of scary. Anyone caught how the FOX announcers were saying how Clemen's mother said that they were going to win 10-2 that night? Was that even true? I remember hearing about her saying Shoeless Joe's name a few times and ask about Pettitte's elbow and stuff, but I don't remember anything about the 10-2 prediction. FOX trying to make up a story for the sake of one? Or did I miss something.
Another tidbit on the White Sox...Freddy Garcia was one of the players we traded away to get Randy Johnson.
Here is a scary thought, we still have to win one more game against St. Louis, so lets not get ahead of ourselves.
I'm kind of glad that thomas is not playing this postseason. Because it would be extremely tough for me to root against that guy, though I would suck it up and do it... Thomas is my all time favorite athlete. Mainly because it was the first athlete I ever met. I want to say it was around 1990 my Dad took me down to George R Brown to get the guys autograph. I saved up my allowance for like the next 2 months to pay him back. I bet I have well over 100 Thomas cards, the ugliest shoes ever endorsed by an athlete that Thomas had in the mid 90's and of course the SNES game. My family made a trip up there to catch a game in 93. Thomas blasted two homeruns extremely close to us against the Brew Crew.. For whatever the reason he was never really the same player after the Sox signed Belle. But for about a 5 year period he was as good as I've ever seen. Both Bags and Thomas are HOF IMO.....
I never really liked "The Big Hurt." Kinda funny and stupid nickname when you think about it. Whatever happened to Albert "Don't call me Joey!" Belle?
Sox look dominant. I think we would be the favorites tho'. The Media will love us because of Clemens, Bagwell, Biggio, Pettite. The Fans should be split. Some will hate Clemens and Pettitte. Some will love Bagwell and Biggio. Sox will be darlings as well. No reason for anyone not to like them. That said, anything can happen. But we are in great shape. We got the tough wins.
