Which type of bread do you prefer? The two main staples in American society are white and wheat and of course you have their offshoots such as whole grain white or honey wheat. There are other breads in American society but these two primarily dominate. Which is your choice?

PS: Why does wheat seem to age faster than white?

My preference is whole grain wheat and I buy the two pack at Sams...When I'm at Subway or Potbelly's, I order wheat...

Doesn't wheat break down faster cause it has more nutrients?

    I dunno...

I don't like white bread. I was raised on wheat. I suppose I've just always gone with the familiar. White bread tastes kind of bland and potatoey.

I will reluctantly vote for wheat; white tastes better but goes straight to my waist/hips/wherever I don't want it. These days, anytime there is an option I eat the healthy stuff. I used to think of wheat as "cardboard" and multigrain as "birdseed", but it's starting to grow on me.

I have examine plain white and plain wheat labels and there appears to be no nutritional difference in them every time I look. What is the difference in them besides color?

    Wheat!

I always thought wheat lasted longer, but perhaps its because wheat doesn't stale/harden as much.

I like multigrain wheat the best, although there is little nutrition difference between that and white.

If you're eating wheat for health reasons, make sure its whole wheat. If you see "enriched wheat", skip it. You may as well eat white.

    I don't use bread.

    Don't really miss it either.

Closest thing I use is flax tortillas or pita pouches.

    More fiber/protein and less calories.

The question was "which do you prefer?," not "Which one did your doctor prescribe because you got high cholesterol?" Ya'll know ya'll like WHITE more than wheat. Own up and say "I am willin' to be fat, 'cuz I love this here whaat breyed". :p

Nothing better than freshly-made "PAN BOLILLO" from my neighborhood's corner bakery Maytena.

There is a difference between whole wheat and white bread. Bread labeled only with "wheat" and not "whole wheat" may be the same as white but with coloring added.

What is that difference? I've noticed that Bunny Bread makes a whole grain white loaf now.

100% whole wheat bread will have more fiber and nutrients than white bread. The way white bread is made strips the outer layers for the grain, which is where the fiber and many of the nutrients are.

Here, I will just copy/paste an excerpt of an article I found through a quick google search:
