Are we all tired of excuses yet? I have read people talking, "oh if Sura was playing, things would have been different, if DA was there, things would be different, T-mac is hurtin." etc etc...First of all I believe we have enough tools right now to win. My question is, where is T-mac? After the laker's game tonight, and witnessing his past few games, what has happened to him? Tracy McGrady is considered a superstar, ranked at the top with Kobe, Iverson, Lebron, Wade...yet then why does he have such a hard time getting away from double teams? Why are his shots so off? Why cant he finish on drives to the basket? Why is he missing the free throws? If the answer to all this is that his back is hurting, well then as much as i love him, he needs to sit out so we can get a high draft pick. Tonight's game was disappointing, even though they are 4-1 the last 5 games, but this game was critical. Yao did his part, Rafer was amazing, Wesley showed his presence, but just like everyone said that Yao was going to be the difference maker, well that would have been true if T-mac had done well. Sorry I'm just frustrated with the loss tonight, but what do other fans feel?
Yao didn't do his part. He got shut down by a 1st pick bust. As for T-Mac, he's going to have his off nights. All superstars have them. But I agree with you, he was disappointing as hell tonight. Lastly, Juwan sucks.
Tmac's status hasnt changed, and I dont like JVG's stale gameplan anymore 2 years and Yao is still at the 3pt line chasing guards Our best rebounders never got in the game Stro stayed in the game despite giving absolutely NOTHING Wesley is still too short to play as a starter, Yet JVG will probably try to resign him Im tired of seeing a team that has absolutely zero fast breaks Please make some tough decisions from the top down and change the makeup of this team.
He is done for the season. probably in pain..but he proably feels bad if he let yao take all the blame for losing with those other scrubs.
Yao - 14 points, 13 reb, 2 blocks, and 1 TO is not bad. T-mac - 11 points, 4 reb, 7 dimes, 2 steals, and 2 TO. He had an off night. http://www.sportsline.com/nba/gamecenter/live/NBA_20060208_LAL@HOU
McGrady needs to hang it up for the season, it really is painful watching him unable to beat his man one-on-one like he used to in the past. Nowadays, it's either his shot is gold from outside and he destroys opponents, or he's cold as hell...not much middle ground there. I don't care what anyone says, but compared to his Orlando days, his athleticism is GONE, I mean just GONE...it's really sad to see. I propose he takes all his shots from 35 ft away, he has a 50% chance at least of making those...
14 points and 41% isn't exactly good. Yao was supposed to dominate Kwame. He wasn't even being doubled. The loss of the game clearly lies on T-Mac's shoulders but Yao did not fill his role tonight.
Tracy McGrady, where art thou!? Tracy McGrady, where art thou!? You're a basketball God. However, your shot is missing in action, your fear of your back giving in again is definately stopping you from attacking the rim, attacking the paint, making acrobatic shots the likes of which they use in gymnastic training videos. If you get this, please reply. . But yeah seriously, what do you think is really up with T-Mac? His back? His knee? You think he's just going through a slump? Or is it deeper than that? I'm hoping it's just the slump, but I know the back has a lot to do with it...
What a pathetic game. No energy no effort (post game quotes). How can you not put in effort or energy into this game? I know players will have of night but last night against the Lakers was not the night, you have to find a way. Memo to T-Mac LOL but get your head out of you’re a$$ and play some freaking basketball especially at home!!!!
what I observed during the game was the Lakers were doubling Tmac pretty hard. With Kobe it wasn't so much until it was too late and he was already hot, and even then it was still mainly T-Mac on him 1 on 1. The remember thinking, this game is close (in the 3rd) and TMac hasn't done much point wise. Then Kobe got hot, and JVG didn't make any changes until it was far too late.
T-Mac needs to sit out the rest of the season. This is getting to be a familiar pattern. He plays well for a period of time, then the back tightens up on him. Eventually it gets so bad he sits out a week. He comes back and plays well for a few games and then starts looking hurt again. What is the point of him continuing to play in this condition? I don't think this team is going to make the playoffs and even if they do, this team with a 50% T-Mac will be taken out in 5 games.
Just to tell you, guys.. Sitting out wouldn't help TMac much, probably. I know something little about back injuries. It is very common that some days you are in pain and some days you are not. Well, basicly that's because one false move will get you in pain and that is if you sit for X years or not.
Man you guys sound ridiculous talking about Tmac like this. He is going to prove all of you wrong just like he does every single year he has been in the league. His athleticism's gone? What the hell are you talking about. He is in a slump, he is physically and mentally exhausted. He is at the point now where this 3 days rest will help him tremendously. He will be the same Tmac and all of you guys will go why did I doubt him again. He goes through this every year. He had a terrible string of games last year and then came out and dominated the next couple of weeks. I will let Tmac do the rest of proving yall wrong.
He isn't as athletic as he used to be- That much is obvious. 3 yrs ago he was above Kobe in athleticism Except for outside shots he hasn't done anything all season I hope it is the back- because he is only 26 yrs. It must be the back and maybe some knee problem Anyway if it is medical and it can get better I hope he returns to highlight reel athleticism.
Last time I checked, he was still averaging 7 rebounds and 5 assists a game...not to mention at least 1 steal.
hate for facts to get in the way of the perceptions but the rockets had 16 fastbreak points in the laker game and 6 other turnovers in transition (swift drops and bad passes by alston and mcgrady). they are really running more if anyone cares to notice...now can they run more efficiently? lakers 8 fb points. and by the way, if mcgrady guards bryant from the start, we risk foul trouble like bryant got into vs. mcgrady in the first laker game. as well as you would still have to double team for wesley against odom unless you want wesley to guard cook.
The reason I’m being so hard on him is because I think he is the most talented player in the league and know what he can do. Believe you me he doesn’t need to prove me wrong he just needs get his head out of his A$$ and play like it!!!!
I've heard this before, but I think resting would help. As with any injury, the body needs some time to heal. Playing every other day will just put more strain on his back. If you are right about rest not helping, then I'm pretty worried about the future of this team. The Rockets just gave T-Mac a max contract and if he's this inconsistent the rest of his career, this team may not contend unless we can trade him.
If his back will be a problem for the rest of his career how much can you trade him for? Rocket River
