For the fist time in about 5 years, I don’t have a clue where this team is headed and who is going to be the team leaders. It’s very sad to say that we were struck by lightning with the career altering injuries that have happened to our two cornerstones of the franchise.

So where do we go from here?
    Who do we build around?
Do we tank and try to hit the lottery?
Do we stand pat for a year and try to grab a great player in next year’s great FA market?

As I look around, I don’t see the future being so good to us for the next couple of years. We can all assume that for the first time in the last three or four years that we are not a contender for next year due to circumstances beyond our control.

Morey has done a great job of plugging in young talented role players on our team for cheap contracts. Bringing Scola here was great and drafting Brooks and Landry that deep in the draft were wonderful moves as well. But these guys are not ever going to be superstars as we all know, and I don’t understand where we are going with the Ariza acquisition. I guess it’s early in the off- season and time will tell what Morey thinks is the best direction for this ball club.

I am very confident in Morey and it just sucks that he is been put in this situation. I hope that he decides to trade Battier for young talent if possible. I HOPE that Yao can make a return sometime but even if he does, I will cringe every time he comes down the court for the rest of his Rockets career. I guess the easiest way to stay relevant would be to take the year off, get a lottery pick and try to hit the Jackpot in next years FA’s market. Even if this is the route that DM decides to go, I don’t think that it will be that successful because there are so many obstacles. I am very sad because of the injuries and the HUGE hole that Yao and T Mac have put us in.

As I look at next years draft class, it really does not look that much better then these years. John Wall seems to be the only real prize, but the chances of landing him are slim to none…

Next years FA market is great but the stars of that market are not coming here. Wade is a long shot and would make everything so much better. Bosh is a better shot at coming here, but I don’t believe in him as a difference maker. He looks more like a great #2 on a great team. My guess would be that we try to grab two decent players in that market but that’s probably not going to put us over the top.

    Best-case scenario in my eyes:

Yao sits out all of next year and we tank, but he gets healthy and ready for 2011.
We some how land John Wall in the draft
We sign a Wade or an Amare or a combination of some young talent.

I’m just rambling now in anger and am so sorry for the long rant. There are so many things that can happen in the next two years and I have a feeling that when its all set and done, this team is going to be so DIFFERENT then it is now.

Is that a good thing??? I hope so but I sincerely doubt it. I’m a huge Rockets fan even if we finish last in the division. I trust our GM and I hope that he makes all of us smile. I just think that he is in a tough spot and is an underdog to come out on top… :(

considering there has been numerous threads already with the same subject matter and you could have easily posted your lengthy view in one of those threads instead creating another redundant thread what sort of insight did you want?

I don't get on here much of late, and just threw a rough draft of my sad thoughts about our team. I should have put it in another thead, but I didn't really think about it. Im just curious about what people think is going to happen over the next few years instead of just next year. I also would like to know what people think about the next two draft classes. Thanks and sorry for the rant....I am very upset seeing all these other teams getting so much better and we are caving in....

With the current lineup, we are going to the lottery. Can you imagine a team of Brooks, Arizia, Scola, Hayes, and Battier. I don't think they could break eighty points.

Morey probably won't post his plans Clutch. Have some faith. I'm not saying he has a secret weapon up his sleeve that's going to guarantee a Championship next year, but I'm sure he's working on it. Just because we don't know what it is doesn't mean he's not on top of it. I think we've made efforts to go after some players who are decent, but other teams wanted to be the ones who "paid too much".

I agree. It amazes me that alot of people here think this current team could make it to the playoffs. The only bright side I see as of now is that Brooks should get the green light to run and gun. A season of that could be jsut the thing he needs to become the player we all think he can be.

If that is are starting lineup we will win 20-30 games. Im okay with that because that gives us a top 5 pick

We are getting Nash and Amare just wait a few weeks. Notice how the Suns haven't done anything this offseason, Amare and Nash won't sign an extension unless they go to a contender and we can give the Suns almost immediate cap relief with T-mac, Landry, Brooks, and Cook. Just watch I think things are about to get real interesting, and all the dumb teams have already used up all their cash on overhyped Turkeyglue players.

not entirely true, this year the good teams got better, the bad teams worse.

Kinda like Robin Hood? So now you got a bunch of teams that will still do worse then much more then 5 that will lower our chance of a top five pick if that even a lottery pick.
