A grandfather rammed a motorbike and then fled in his electric wheelchair, German police say.

The 62-year-old has been charged with drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident after the incident in Cottbus, near Berlin.

He is alleged to have been travelling at 15mph when police caught up with him. They disconnected the electric cable to the wheelchair's batteries when he allegedly refused to pull over.

The man is due in court next month.
