There have been several trades speculated in here in the oast few days, and I'm just trying to get a grip on which one ( among hose much discussed) is the most popular. This might also provide a forum for others to voice their own trade ideas without spilling over into so many other new threads...

IMO, when voting, it should not just be "Who is the best player talked about", in which case everyone votes for T-Mac or Kobe and we all go home...I think it should at least, in part, be which trade do you think worls best for us which also makes sense to the other team? Try and dream realistically...

Also, on each trade I will give the genral idea, as there are often a few particular variations. If yours is an extrem variation, either choose it and explain the change, or choose other and just list it.

) If I've forgotten any significant ones, I apologize, and please just list it under 'other' and specify.

BTW...I meant to say that this thread is operating under the assumption that a trade is necessary/inevitable. There are other places to argue whether we should make a trade or not.

Agreed. That's why I appealed for a consideration of the former before then deciding which one which qualifies as 'realistic' best suits the Rockets, according to each.

If I could pick, I'd take Randolph/Hinrich. But for the spirt of this poll, I had to pick the Randophy/Snow match because the R/H would never happen.

    Hinrich (PG) <---smart/savvy
    Mobley (SG) <---aggressive/mean
    JJ (SF) <---smart/savvy
    Randoph (PF) <---aggressive/mean
    Yao (C) <---smart/savvy

    FRICKIN AWESOME!!!!:D

A perfect blend of athletic ability with smarts.

And every postion is covered! No glaring weaknesses.

    I voted Hinrich/Chandler before I saw other.

I would go with Francis for Murphy/Dunleavy/Johnson and I think it is a reasonable trade. Hinrich/Chandler I think would also require that we take Eddie Robinson.

Yeah, I can't pass up that guy...

Snow is a better PG right now. But Hinrich will become better as time goes on...

From watching him the last few games, he will deveope into a Bibby/Parker type player but with a BONUS: He plays defense like GINOBLI!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Charles Barkley rant!)

    He's a savvy ball stealer.

The best trade involving steve francis to the bulls for hinrich, fizer and crawford.Fizer is avaluable and the answer to the atheletic forwards who give the rockets problems, the guy started the bulls comeback against the rockets last week. Before he came into the game the bulls were flat.He brought toughness, rebounding, energy and scoring.

Trade Francis to LA Clippers for Brand. Elton Brand has a consistent power game that would give us consistent scoring to complement Yao Ming finesse game.

Trade some combination of Piatowski or Taylor with trade exception for Marko Jaric. Though not an elite one on one player like Francis- Jaric is tall - 6' 6" or 6' 7" that would give us a good passing -see the floor point guard.

I want a strong front court-we need a tough power forward to help Yao develop.

Many may scoff- maybe unrealistic, but I would rather have a consistent-non complaining player like Brand than a Rasheed or Kobe type player that would disrupt chemistry.

Why do you guys all want Jaric???? The guy stinks. Take it from someone who sits at A LOT of Clipper games. He may have his moments, but he makes all the same mental mistakes as Steve, and isn't nearly as talented. He's long and athletic but he's one of those tweeners- can't shoot well enough to be on the perimeter, but really can't play the point either.

Please, take a look...he's in his 2nd year. And a soild PG. Not spectacular. He doesn't turn the ball over.

His weakness is his shooting percetage.

Although I don't fully agree with UTweezer. His point was Francis for Brand. Not for Jaric. Jaric would just be part of the packge deal.

Only as SG. Just wait until later this year...you'll see. As PG, he make the team suffer.
We'll never be a great team. We'll only be marginal.

Don't be tricked by the fools gold.

I think on the realistic scale Ray Allen is tops and also would be extemely positive for the Rockets.

Though I think this team should get to finish the season without trades. The playoffs might be extemely positive as well.:D

    Word.

Assuming the assumption of the necessity/inevitability of a trade, I think that Kobe is the best deal, and that none of the above are very likely. All of the guys listed seem to be cornerstones of their respective teams...think about how much most of us want to rid ourselves of Steve. Do you really think that any team in the league would trade their best player for a guy whose own fanbase wants him gone?

    Keep him!!!

Sorry, I overlooked MacBeth's second post.

Out of all the deals that are somewhat realistic at least, the only one I would consider would be something for Brand and Jaric.

    Francis + Cato + Piatkowski
    to Cleveland for:
    Boozer + Illgauskas + Wagner + Ollie

    Rockets
    SF: J. Jackson + Nachbar
PF: Boozer + Taylor + Spoon
    C: Yao + Illgauskas
    PG: Ollie + Wagner + M. Jackson
    SG: Mobley + Griffin

    Cavaliers
SF: Williams + Piatkowski + Kapono
    PF: Battie + Boumtje
    C: Cato + Diop
PG: Francis + McInnis + Bremer
    SG: James + Brown

Boozer would be the main reason for the deal. He would be a nice companion PF next to Yao for many years. Good rebounder. Decent shooter. Hard nosed defender.

Ollie isn't a great point guard but he has a solid 2.93 assist to turnover ratio for his career and has played in 38 playoff games. Decent free throw shooter too. Won't take a lot of shots so Yao and Cuttino should be happier with their increased opportunities.

Hopefully Wagner can develop into our PG of the future under Ollie and MJax. If not we can draft Chris Duhon or Blake Stepp in June. He would be a nice energy scorer off the bench in the meantime.

Illgauskas has one less year on his deal than Cato and would allow Yao to rest more without the team having to sacrifice offense. When his deal expires that will create a ton of cap space and hopefully by then Yao's stamina will have improved.

Playing with a big guard who can handle and pass like LeBron will help Steve and he would help take away some defensive attention away from LeBron. He goes to the East so we only have to play against him twice a year and he's closer to his family in D.C.

    everybody wins! :)
