What's a skeleton offense?

    "We¡¯re running a skeleton offense with him right now but he still gets us really good shots.¡±

    This may be a stupid question to many of you..what exactly does Rudy mean here?

    Simple.

    He is running a unsophisticated version of his offense. A siplified version of it. Like a child learns simple elements of language. You teach it more complex elements as they age. The offense is not as diverse as it will be in the future.

    It is a common Slang term.

    If you have 20 different plays in your offense but are only able to run 3 of them then that would be considered a skeleton offense. In other words for what ever reason he can't use the whole thing.
