They really seem to like the special effects it offers (the sound effects and vibrating). My oldest daughter (17) really likes it too!

    I'm not touching that one!!

    And then:

The broomstick has cute sound effects and ***VIBRATES*** when they put it between their legs to fly. Come on---what were the creators of this toy thinking? She'll keep playing with the Nimbus 2000, but with the batteries removed

Man, I haven't even read it yet, but Behad's post almost made me die laughing. :D Let me try reading it.

edit: I kind of like this one:

My 12 year old daughter is a big Harry Potter fan, and loved the part with the Nimbus 2000, so I decided to buy her this toy. I was afraid she would think it was too babyish, but she LOVES this toy. Even my daughter's friends enjoy playing with this fun toy. I was surprised at how long they can just sit in her room and play with this magic broomstick! A great buy for any Harry Potter fan! :)

What? Her friends play with it too? They all stay in the room? A magic broomstick?

    Ok.

After reading those reviews my wife said she wants one for her birthday. Extra batteries.

Sorry to bring this back up, but it made this week's "News of the Weird" newsletter:

September reports in the New York Post and the Toronto Star, quoting parents' Web site "reviews" of the Mattel $19.99 Nimbus 2000 plastic-replica broomstick from the latest Harry Potter movie, highlighted its battery-powered special effect: vibration. Wrote a Texas mother: "I was surprised at how long (my daughter and her friends) can just sit in her room and play with this magic broomstick." Another said her daughter fights her son for it but complains that "the batteries drain too fast." A New Jersey mother, sensing a problem, said her daughter could keep playing with it, "but with the batteries removed." Still another mother, age 32, said she enjoyed it as much as her daughter. I guess Matel didn't think this through and now the broom is discontinued, or at least Amazon is no longer selling it.

Come on...at least these kids are having sex with a broomstick and not with each other...
