Last Comic Standing is auditioning in Houston this year on the 22nd of February. I'd already decided that I wasn't going to do it this year but they are auditioning in the same club that I am probably headlining that week; The Improv.

It's going to be pretty cool to have my name on the marquis when all of the competition is going on, but would be pretty humiliating if I auditioned and didn't advance to LA.

After I did it last year my money increased and I received over 3 grand from TV residuals, but to sit back and watch 2 of my former opening acts (Josh Blue and Jon Reep) advance and win it all may be something that I want to sit back and watch this time around.

    I dunno...

    ....what yall thank?????

Do it and don't look back. Worse case you keep headlining clubs and keep working like you're doing.

    Best of luck AB.

I agree, go for it AB. The more times you try the more chances you have to advance. ;)

They don't have viewers voting do they? I would vote for ya!

Last season was the first time that I watched the show. You should definitely do it.

I think the benefits outweighs the risk. Try having fun as your mindset and focus, and the rest will take care of itself.

    AB,

If you are already headlining what is the point?

I've watched every episode of Last Comic Standing over the years. I've come to realize the selection process is a big joke. If you watch the final 10 comic selected, you can definitely see people who don't belong there. I'm talking about the token female comedian along with the token fat black woman as well.

I still haven't forgiven LCS not advancing Dan Naturman in Season 1. Last season I was shocked to see Arj Barker in the show, and he didn't even make it past round 2. These guys are hip headline acts in NYC and LA any day, so I'm thinking the tv audience for LCS is typically white, mid-western, evangelical crowd.

Bottom line is there is rarely any cutting edge material that advances past the second round. Most of it is just safe comedy that a family of four can sit around and watch at the same time. Sort of like Jay Leno type humour.

    I thank YOU.

    But seriously, folks...

Would you even consider it if your name wasn't on the marquee?!?!?

Which way are you leaning? I met this girl, her name was Eileen, I asked her out, but she said she only wanted balance in her life. :(

It seems like you have nothing to lose ... worst case scenario you don't get called back to LA but you still get countless hours of self-deprecating material.

I would still suggest doing it as a challenge to yourself - perhaps make a point to use as much new material as you can for each show or something like that.

Do it man! Everybody that I've recommended you to, have not said anything negative at all.

I've always enjoyed every show I've been, regardless, I'll be supporting you! :D

You are so much better than the people they picked last year.

But if you need it to help you advance your career, go ahead dont hesitate.

IIRC, there was controversy in that first season because they celebrity judges (I remember Drew Carey) really didn't have their votes count. They producers just chose who got in the house. I also think one of the producers represented one of the comics that got in or something like that. TV isn't interested in making sure the best get on TV. They want what's going to make the best show. Two completely different things. You think these dating shows actually want to hook you up with somebody you're compatible with?

Did anyone notice how NBC cheapskated the LCS show this year by not having the contestants live in a house together? They all lived in hotels.

I mean if Deal or Do No Deal can give out a million bucks a show, you would think NBC would have the budget to have the contestants live in a swank house on top of Beverly Hills like in years past.

Thanks guys but Brightside hit the nail on the head. I'm not young and cute (although younger and cuter than fatty ;) ), nor am I a fat black woman or characterture. LCS passes up on a lot of comics that are not only better than me but better than the finalists. Dan Naturman is a good comic but Arj Barker and guys like Robert Hawkins are master class comedians, and not to have guys like that advance is just baffling.

    Thanks again for your confidence.

Can you dress as a fat black woman?
