The guy is 32 years old.

His last "all-star" esque season was in 2004-2005 before Cat was traded.
His knee problems "quadriceps" have been well documented, and he has not been the same since, but he as shown flashes when healthy.

Does anyone have any word on Steve?
(Sarcastic remarks/Gay Cuttino jokes, aside please)

He's living life in Houston, I think he tried to make his last come back this past season... he couldn't do it, so he called it a career... sort of like Bob Sura. I think he is currently with Memphis, if I'm not mistaken (or may have been bought out) but I think he was seeking for an assistant coaching job and might been looking to do it with the Grizzlies.

He's been in Florida, recently, working with David Thorpe.

I'm hardly Francis' biggest fan. But word is that he's been working. Hard.

So he's actually trying to make a comeback? I wouldn't mind signing him again :p

I get the feeling that he is done, but I hope he can go out successfully like Mobley did. Don't see any role for him in Houston.

Nice to hear from you Kelly. I would like to get your input about the draft and the changes that are happening or might happen in another thread.

His NBA demise is tragically fascinating. I love the guy to death but RARELY do you see All-Star caliber athletes nosedive the way he did.

I recently posted he had not officially retired but he wasn't putting in the work to come back. Glad to see him putting in the work.

It all depends on Steve. If He puts enough work and be motivated to come back, He could still contribute to the Rockets. I am hoping for another tour of duty for Steve and this time, end his career with a bang.

We all know Steve has a huge ego. He doesn't want to retire the way he does. No surprise that he is putting in hard work. I wish it was with the Rockets but that storybook ending is long gone.

Stevie might not went out the way he wanted but the NBA did take care of him financially for the rest of his life & his kids.

If he gets healthy he could contribute more than Cook could ever do.

I love me some Stevie. I wish him well.

    Third times a charm...

I don't really see the role he would have on the rockets since Brooks is cemented as starter and lowry at backup point.

Maybe we could play him at the two, but TMAC, Ron, and Von play that position and during his stint here Adelman liked Barry and Luther more.

But man would that be a story

So since I'm allowed to dream...

    WE WANT STEVE!!!

He still can come back if he really works hard.

I have a soft spot for the guy. He may not be the sharpest pencil in the box, but he is pretty decent guy and played hard.
