Just for D&D fun... Here's the deal. You can only post a quote. No editorializing, no comment. (I know that goes completely against the D&D rule ) http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/01/19.html#a6780 On Hardball today, Chris Matthews compared Michael Moore to Osama Bin Laden while discussing the newly released tape with Joe Biden.
... the 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy. --Alex Carey as quoted by Noam Chomsky
Mustang Sally! Guess you better slow your Mustang down, oh lord, what I said now. Mustang Sally, now baby, oh lord, Guess you better slow your Mustang down, oh yeah.
Every generation needs a new revolution. Thomas Jefferson Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. Thomas Jefferson I am mortified to be told that, in the United States of America, the sale of a book can become a subject of inquiry, and of criminal inquiry too. Thomas Jefferson It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own. Thomas Jefferson It is more dangerous that even a guilty person should be punished without the forms of law than that he should escape. Thomas Jefferson When you are right you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong, you cannot be too conservative. Martin Luther King Jr. A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom. Martin Luther King, Jr.
What she said : "How come someone hasn't noticed That I'm dead And decided to bury me ? God knows, I'm ready!" La-la-la ... -Morrissey
sorry, but i'm breaking the rules to share a story...it's still sort of a "he said" anyway..it's just from my 5 year old son. my son came home from school and told me he learned about Martin Luther King...he told me he was killed in tennessee, on the 2nd day he was there. and that God must love MLK because he taught people to "fight with their mouths and words instead of with fists and guns." in all seriousness...that may be the proudest moment of my entire life.
that is awesome. I imagine you would be proud. It so great to see young minds fill up with thoughts and concepts like that. he sounds great.
My oldest, now in 2nd grade, came home with some serious questions about MLK, Rosa Parks, and such. When I mentioned that I was a kid when MLK was shot her eyes got huge and she said, "You're that old!" (Hard to believe MLK would only be 77 now.) "Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree." --MLK, Jr.
"Death cannot stop true love, all it can do is delay it for a while." --The Dread Pirate Roberts (b/c noone would surrender to the Dread Pirate Westley)
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." - George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States.August 6, 2004.
I should have put this quote here... "Look, this is going to come out. Nobody is going to keep it a secret. Jack Abramoff is so radioactive—I've got Jack Abramoff fatigue already. I mean, good grief, he didn't kill anybody. Maybe that one guy in Florida." Ed Rogers, GOP Lobbyist, on Hardball (via http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/ )
''I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency." Dick Cheney "We've found the weapons of mass destruction." George W. Bush - May 30th 2003.
Oscar Wilde, all: “Wickedness is a myth invented by good people to account for the curious attractiveness of others” “America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between.” “Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation." “The public have an insatiable curiosity to know everything, except what is worth knowing” “A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.” "As long as war is regarded as wicked, it will always have its fascination. When it is looked upon as vulgar, it will cease to be popular." And, of course, my sig.
