this has been at the back of my head for a while now, but what happens if 2 teams records are the same and they split the season series to. for example: LETS JUST SAY next year the rockets and the suns each go 55-27 and the regular season is over. the 2 teams split the season series. who gets the higher playoff position?

I agree that the poll is pointless and ridiculous, is like asking in a poll, what happens when a player gets two technical fouls in the same game?
