rockets going 10-0? this is a whole new team and it might help them losing 3-4 in a row... they have to get use to each other and it just takes time... we should give the coach and the players a break till mid december and see what the outcome will be.. but till then i just think we should wait and see
Mooch I totally agree with you, but you should know better. The way some of these "fans" mentalities are really makes me shudder. One moment we are competing for a Championship and after the outcome of two games we are forced to fire the coach and dismantle everyone on the team except for 2 players? Sometimes I dont understand how anyone can post some of the responses I've heard on this board and be serious about them. Thank goodness for some of the more sane posters on this board like yourself, Jeff, and some others. Unfortunately by looking at some of these thread titles, it appears that you are outnumbered by the "Bipolar Rockets Fans" by a ratio of at least 10:1.
Most don't realize that we are subject to our own system. Our team manages to keep the opposing team from breaking away (unlike the last few Texans' games ). Unfortunately, if we don't finish strong we lose. Most of the games we lost we were leading after 3 quarters. I'm sure the team will get better.
this is exactly what i've been saying for a while. when we made the trade i still felt like we were a good player away from contending for anything signficant. i also thought it would take a while for this team to come together. i still think both of those ideas are right. because of that, i'm not that disappointed...sure, i wish they were winning...but this isn't far off of what i expected, frankly.
I agree also. It is not surprising to me that they are starting off slow. It happens. We have major holes and the guys don't know each other well. Of course, if we are 10 games under .500 at the end of the year that's a different story!
Thanks. I'm the voice of calm and reason. When you go to the Rockets game and see the Power Dancers, you expect something. What if they were fat and couldn't dance. That's what I feel about this team now. They need to work harder to get into shape and practice more so they can dance correctly as a group. No one likes ugly cheerleaders.
Mooch, where have you been all my life!? I'm with ya. We could just as easily be 6-4 or 7-3. we're walking through a little mud and muck, bigfreakingdeal! I think this is the best thing that can happen to this team at this time. I really do. and I didn't just add 'I really do' to make myself believe in what I was saying either. I really do.
I think we all expected to beat the Hawks and Knicks. And I'm sure we all didn't expect to blow 11-point leads either. As a matter of fact I can take the loses, it's the way we lost them that indicate there is something not right, right now.
The Atlantic Hawks are one of the worst teams in the league. The Knicks are a misquided grup of talented misfits. We should have slept walked through victories. This is the new Soutwestern division- very unforgiving. We need a point guard bad, but we should have at least beaten the Hawks and Knicks. I was at the LA and Minn. games - we could have and very nearly beat both of them --our record could be 4 more victories now. I am deeply disappointed....
I don't think anyone's arguing against that. They are just arguing that they have lost too many games they should have already won given the talent, etc. Especially when you consider today's NBA, EVERY team has to gel and take time and is missing a piece or two. The Hawks and Knicks both added new players to their lineups that changed them significantly from the previous year. The Lakers made tremendous changes. Using the logic you used, those teams should also take time to gel and will be better later in the year.
Thank you for this thread!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not alone. I stopped posting in other threads because it seemed most people are thinking that this team is doomed. Even people like m_cable are starting to doubt. I have expected this start and am expecting more ugliness to come. That's right, there will be more bad lineups on the floor, there will be more defensive breakdowns, there will be more blown leads, there will be more can't_get_Yao_the_ball for quarters at a time, there will be more losing to worst teams....Like Jeff said, we are not good yet. We won't be good for a while. Many are blaming JVG, it's only natural I suppose. Things look bad when you are losing. I see so many good things about this team, it's just a matter of chemistry. Including chemistry between JVG and the team. People are questioning JVG's substitution patterns when the coach doesn't even know what he has yet. We are still experimenting different lineups. I've been extremly happy with the good: -Deke's D and rebound -Lue's defense -Tmac's passing -wide open shots for our perimeter -actually finishing breaks -many more ways to get yao the ball(yall remember last year) -the flow on our offense(ignore the break downs expected) -the ability to go on a run, we've seen this over and over those are here to stay. The bad, and there are lots of them right now, can only be improved on with time. I am looking for good times after the ASG.
Well, we could just as easily be 1-9 also. The only game we have dominated so far is beating NJ Nets. The fact is we are 4-6 and we have not beaten any winning team so far.
the fact is we are 4-6. I know thats the fact. we haven't beat a winning team so far, im not intrested in that because its too early to talk about that, we don't know who exactly is going to be a winning team and who is not. but can you take some satisfaction in the fact that we haven't been blown out. think about, we have been in every game to the end. right? in the last minute or so, this team has had a chance to take the game. that may not be cause for celebration but its a good thing, you know, when we are looking for good things.
