Trade their expiring contracts to Philly for Brand and Iggy. Philly has to give them Turner or a future first round pick. Tell Melo they aren't trading him and play out the season.

    Billups/Lawson
    Afflalo/Forbes
    Melo/Iggy
    Nene/Andersen
    Brand/Melo

either a future first rounder or Evan Turner, some other asset(s) for taking Iggy and Brand off Philly.

That is a half court pound it out team that can play some D with a light it up run and gun bench that can play some D.

Then they have the rest of the season to convince Melo to sign the extension. If Melo doesn't sign the extension, they trade him to NY before July 1 for a trade exception and whatever else they can get. And Billups is sitting there as an expiring next season along with Nene expiring, plus the pick or Evan Turner that they can throw at New Orleans for their rebuild when they figure out that Paul is opting out. They can send Nene, Billups and other expirings plus a couple picks to N.O. for Paul and Okafor and go to war again.

If not, ship Melo to NY for the huge trade exception and go right on down the road without him.

Denver has a good team, very good. Not great, but with Melo wired up right and with Chauncey controlling the point, they are very good, only a couple pieces from really competing for the whole enchilada. They shouldn't cave. They should reverse course and go ahead and build out and go for it and tell Melo they aren't trading him.

I think that team makes a serious run at the Lakers.

    a couple posts above yours.

Seriously, let's not even talk about some other team dumping salary like Phoenix.

Trade for Igoudala so he can come off of the bench? Good luck with that.

turner isn't playing well mostly because of so many similar players on that squad. Someone will go, and they will be a big name from that team.

the Nuggets have a shot this year only to get to the finals, but they will lose. They are not winning a ring anytime soon with this group. billups is old and out of the leauge in three years. With howard/paul coming off in 2012 and most likely switching teams, you will see a re-amped laker/thunder/magic/knick squad that battles the heat and chicago for the title.

This is the year where its completely wide open for ANY elite team to win it because no one has experience or a complete edge. but soon enough, teams will build with those edges, and old teams like spurs, lakers, celtics will fade away.

Anthony is smart, he should realize that Knicks are not the spot for him. he is a horrible SF offensively and wouldn't improve that system much unless he changed his game. Knicks need another big man and a pure SG. so that the bench play of Fields/Chandler would be the needed punch they need.

Anthony's best fit is to swing his way onto a team like the clippers, where he can take as much shots as possible, but have griffin and kaman doing the rebound work, and bledsoe/davis doing pg and gordon being a compliment to his scoring. Anthony won't produce is he doesn't touch the ball enough. He relies too much on an long jumper to be efficient.

The clippers very well could be the team to win it for anthony if they can somehow convince him that the pieces around him would be substantial.

Chicago could work, i don't see how boozer would enjoy seeing his pts go down though

the nuggets should NOT look to take on anymore salary, especially oppressive contracts such as brand and iggy. what if they took on those contracts and melo leaves in the offseason? then they get nothing for melo and have no flexibility for the next x amount of years either. that would be the WORST situation possible.

if i were running the team i would stir up a bidding war between the knicks and nets (as they've been doing), and get as much as i could for melo now before he leaves the team with nothing in return. after that, stockpile cap space, young players, draft picks.

Philly wouldn't trade Brand and Iggy for expiring contracts. They want to win. Brand has become a little more serviceable so they aren't that desperate to move him.
