This might have been already talked about put since news about the Rockets are slow in coming I thought I would put this out there. I was searching the internet for different mock drafts and I came up with this old mock draft when we drafted Yao. http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/articles/draft2002/mockdraft.html Just think what kind of team we would have had if this guy was correct. My question is if we had drafted Amare Stoudemire, the Magic probable would have wanted him instead of Steve. Would you still do that trade or would you keep Amare?
Truth is, how do you know Amare would develop to be the player he is now under RT coaching? I think alot of people here think that if we drafted or had xxx we would be a better team is completely false. The way a player develops and the teammates he has contributes to what type of player he is.
Hmm. What would it be like if we drafted the two most promising big men to come into the league in years? A pair which would complement each other VERY well, with one being tall and massive and skilled, and the other being quick, and athletic, and explosive. Let's just say that it wouldn't suck.
what's sick is that if it wasn't for the stupid Clippers, the suns would have drafted Wilcox and we would have had Amare instead of Snackbar.
Actually, I've always heard that the Suns wanted Stoudamire and only Stoudamire. However, I bet we could have gotten New York or the Clippers' pick with Eddie Griffin and the 15 - bah!
Chow-yun-fat, My money is that Rudy would have done wonders with Amare. In my (small, functionless) mind, there's no doubt about it. -P1st, S2nd
Amare may be better in the traditional sense, but Yao changes the way the game is played. Amare can be stopped using conventional methods. Teams have to hope that Yao has an off night. Amare puts up great numbers and I like his game, but why do you want a normal player when you can have someone who transforms the game. Phoenix would trade them straight up. So why would a Rockets fan want to?
They are talking about what if that guy's mock was correct and the Rockets drafted both Yao and Amare not drafting Amare instead of Yao.
Oh...so the Bulls would trade up to ensure it gets Jay Williams. I guess we should have traded the #1 pick to them for Tyson Chandler and the #2 pick (the Bulls might be stupid enough to do that since they were so sold on Williams ). We could still use the #2 pick to draft Yao. hahahahahahaha
I actually remember this. Something about them only working out Amare and were content on drafting him.
Does Orlando trade TMac to us without asking for Amare or Yao? Do we feel the need to go out and get a premier perimeter player when we have two of the most dominant inside players in the league?
