Anybody watching? I don't usually watch, but tonight's ep has been interesting to say the least. It's the Democratic Convention and the people running are Jimmy Smits as Rep. Matt Santos, Gary Cole aka Lumbergh aka Harvey Birdman as Vice President Robert 'Bingo Bob' Russell, and Tim Matheson aka Otter of Animal House as former Vice President John Hoynes. A while ago though, Ed O'Neill aka Al Bundy as Penn. Governor Eric Baker went out onto the convention floor and threw his hat into the ring throwing the convention into chaos as votes started shifting. I don't think I'll watch the show during it's regular run, but the election stuff is fun.
This last season was freaking great. I've been pissed for a while that the nominees were spoiled -- there was a newspaper story a while back that said the writers hadn't decided whether Santos or Vinnick would be the next president, which pretty well spoiled the Dem primary storyline -- but tonight shook it back up again. Great episode, great season, best show on TV.
Looks like Smits is gonna win it, he represents that kind of fantasy candidat you wish was really out there. I think, in the interest of curveballs and interesting TV, Alda should win.
Crap! Missed it! I 'discovered' this show this past year and caught myself up by watching the seasons out on DVD plus catching it on Bravo. Did I just read that Leo is the VP candidate? Is he running with Santos? I totally agree that, for the most part, it is a very well-written and fast-paced show.
I've been waiting for years for a reason to curse Jane Fonda on this BBS and YOU beat me to it you b*stard
This show just lost all credibility. How do they expect viewers to believe 2 great candidates could be running?
Unexpected, yeah, but don't you agree that makes for a great storyline? That's the advantage to a fictional show. Next year we actually get to see a race between two guys who would each make a great president. Vote for the better of two goods instead of the lesser of two evils. The only reason I've got so far to prefer Santos right now (even though he's hella good) is retaining last year's cast. I'm a lifelong Democrat and if I lived in WW world, as of now, I'd be Vinnick all the way. If real Republicans were anything like him, I'd reconsider my party ID.
Wouldn't be a curveball at all. Alda's character's the frontrunner by a mile right now, for good reason. Looks like next season we might actually get the intelligent R v. D debate our last several real presidential elections have lacked. I can't wait.
Well, I guess I need to do some research. Did they already show reruns for this season? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it used to be that you'd show all eps, then reruns, but now it's like a couple of new eps, then reruns and that's the cycle all season long. Anyways, if Alda does win, there needs to be an allusion to Canadian Bacon. President's aide: Sir, the Helms amendment and NSC order 725 both specifically prohibit the use of Omega Force against Caucasians.
Oski: It's been all new eps for the last several months. You can probably catch the whole season again any minute now, and I highly recommend it. The whole thing was a work of art.
They re-run episodes nightly on Bravo. I saw my all-time favorite on Tuesday-- the episode where Ms. Landinham, the president's personal secretary, is killed by a drunk driver and President Bartlett rails against God in the sealed-off chapel after the Memorial Service for her.
It was a great season. Last night was a fantastic episode. Didn't see it coming with Leo as the VP. If you remember back to when they had to pick a new VP, his name was mentioned. Either way, I'm disappointed that the season is already over. Can't wait for next season and the election. As far as reruns go, Bravo usually picks up the newest season in August and runs it up until the new season starts on NBC. SANTOS FOR PRESIDENT!
