Hmm...never tried it with one of those. I usually just lay on the bench i bench press on, and put a 25 pound weight on my chest and just do crunches. Sometimes I hold the crunch position for about 10 seconds, then go down, then up again, another 10 sec ect. Other times I dont hold and just keep doing em. Rep wise, for crunches I usually just do em until I get tired of them. Take a break, and go back at it again.
Good luck on getting abs toned. This one guy I work out with (dude is just a freak) works his abs all the time and he can't get them to be those "washboard" abs. Yes, genetics does play a big part in becoming "ripped" or what have you, but he told me (and I agree completely) that genetics really plays a big part (maybe the biggest) when it comes to abs.
If you are doing barbell curls that means that your palms are almost parallel to your body. And if your hands are just shoulder width apart, there is a great strain on the ulna (outside) part of the forearm, where your pinky goes to your elbow. With 2 handed curls, I like to use a french bar, whether standing for doing preacher, because it gives the arms a more natural motion. And if you are doing standing curls just use dumbells. Less wrist strain and it also works your abs because you have to balance your weight (assuming you are alternating arms).
Thanks for the advice. It really helps. Anyways the ball is the best. I used to do about 200 cruches everyday and saw no results. When I switched to the ball, my results were instantaneous. It seems like I am talking about some magic drug. Another thing about getting flatter abs is you might want to go in for a colon cleanse. I've heard of people getting a flat stomach after one session. If you don't want to go that extrme try Psyllium Husk Powder to flush out all the muck.
By results do you mean ripped/cut, or just weight loss? Thanks for everyone's suggestions I'll try the ball tomorrow.
What I love about it so much is in addition working your entire abs (upper/lower) in one motion it also makes your back feel really good. Arching over the ball really loosens up any tight muscles you have in those weird spots along your spine. Like Brightside said - the results after one session are impressive and after a couple of months you'll be feeling great.
I googled the Psyllium Husk Powder and i must say that I am shocked. There is no way that is inside of people. I don't even have the problems listed but I feel like I should do it anyway just to see what happens.
So how exactly do you do ab exercises with a ball. You just lie on top of it and do crunches. Is there an animation online to see what it looks like.
The basic premise is that most people have many pounds of impacted fecal matter in their colon and intestines. What this does is make your stomach bulge. One quick way to get rid of this matter is through a colon cleanse. This is where they run water through your colon. This is the quickest way to see results. Another way is just basically to take the Psyllium Husk Powder and crap it all out. This is a less invasive way of getting your colon and intestines to be clean. Thus your abs will show the definition. It is not the case always, but for some people, who do constant ab excercises and never see results this might be something looking into. John Wayne when he died supposedly had 40 lbs of impacted fecal matter in his colon. This was seen in the autopsy. This is alot of weight to be carrying around. Read more about it. They have this old saying that is "Death begins in the colon." It is a common cause of many ailments. Just google up this stuff. Its kind of gross, but it will definitely make you look and feel better.
