I've never been to NYC, but in a few weeks I'll be visiting for the weekend. I want to soak in as MUCH as possible! I love the arts, food, urban life, sports, interesting walks...all of these things that I assume New York has tons of.

What would you recommend I must do / see in my weekend? Museums, restaurants, off broadway shows, bars, music spots, interesting bookstores, coffee shops, anything!

Rep for the most helpful answers. Much appreciated.

Where are you staying? If you are staying near Time Square, you can just walk to most places like the Empire State Building, Broadway, 30 rock etc....

Take a water taxi tour around the city, great way to see it and if you buy a day pass you can use it all day.

    That place is so good.

Victor's Cafe (http://www.victorscafe.com/index2.html) has really good ropa vieja (meat dish). Every one that has gone there based on my recommendation and tried it has not regretted it. Downside is that you will spend about $35 per person.

I know it's a real "touristy" thing to do, but go to the top of the Empire State Building. You won't regret it. And squeeze in as many plays as you can.
