i admit it. i'm doing this for work. i'm working for this tiny startup and somehow i'm now leading web marketing. ack... so where do i come? do i run a search on google? yes? do i consult textbooks? not yet. i come to a sports website full of poo flinging inmates and boobs oggling bored-at-work tweeners... :D

are there any good resources out on the web related to how websites are ranked (ex. i know that google is based on how many websites are linking to your page, but there's got to be more than that, right?)

is there anything that i can suggest we do in-house to raise our profile (legally and not spamming)? i guess i'm a novice at this and would like to start from the ground up.

for example, today, clutchfans is ranked fourth on google after i look up "houston rockets". that's pretty awesome considering that this is an "unofficial" site.

    - employee about to meet a deadline.. yikes.

Get someone at your company to kill somebody, that exposure may be what you need.
