I know that there has been so much talk about what Webber will decide to do this year. Now is the time to predict where he'll go either through FA or trade.... I predict he's going to either NY to play with his buddy Spree or to play with the Rox if we show this year that we're improving rapidly. ------------------
Portland....why not? They already are 60 billion over the cap and have three great power forwards. What's one more. Webber will play PG for them and they will have a team of trees that will dominate just by being tall. ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
I would be so excited I'd sh*t , but Webb Ain't playin' for the Rox. He's goin' to NY, because despite how much fun it is to watch J Williams, he's not out for the team...YET. Webb to NY in '01. ------------------
Then is this the Knicks lineup next season? 1) Sprewell 2) Houston 3) Rice 4) Webber 5) Longley The Hawks want Sprewell before they'll give up Mutombo. Does Webber join Spee there if the Knicks have a momentary lapse or reason? It's way too early for this. ------------------ GATER
The Knicks will have to trade for Webber if they're going to get him--there's no way they could sign him since they're way over the cap as it is. If he doesn't get traded to NY then I think he'll go to Detroit ------------------
There's no way he goes to Detroit. I mean, he might as well stay in sac-town because I don't care how much he misses Michigan he won't go to a team that bad. That's the main reason he's leaving the Kings in the first place. He wants to get paid AND win! ------------------ [This message has been edited by mobes (edited October 17, 2000).]
Most of the big name FA's moved town via S&T this year. It's really up to them where they want to go, and then they'll be facillitated. Miami got 2 max players; not bad for a team who was over the salary cap in the first place! ------------------
DrN, Good point. If NY & SAC wanted to do the deal now, here's something that works after December 15th. Webber (S&T after contract extention) to the Knicks for Houston, Thomas, & Postel. Knicks lineup 1) Ward / Childs 2) Sprewell / Strickland 3) Rice / (Mickeal?) 4) Webber / LJ / Mickeal 5) Longley / Camby * Jabari Smith works capwise - if the Kings would part with him. SAC lineup 1) JDub / Jackson / Martin 2) Houston / Christie / Anderson / Barry / Postel 3) Stojakovic / Turkoglu 4) Thomas / Funderburke 5) Divac / Pollard / J.Smith Houston is a great player, but this sure creates a backlog at 2. Perhaps a 3rd team covets Anderson or Barry. Don't think there's enough upside for SAC, but if they see that can't resign Webber, this beats losing him to Free Agency. ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited October 17, 2000).]
