Cuttino looks pretty uncoordinated out there with his broken finger. Maybe if we keep him around and kep breaking his fingers we will be okay. Looks like he focused a lot more on defense tonight and even though he missed most his shots he didnt take too many. I hope he takes this type of drive into sunday, hell need it againts tmac
t-mac is a much harder match-up for cat than iverson is. tracy can shoot right over him. i have a feeling that posey will be put on tracy. yao will have a field day going inside on the magic unless they throw double or a triple team on him. that would leave rice open. we will see a line-up of: yao mo rice posey steve for most of the game.
Yeah, I reported the other one. You know, if you must have "a thing", it'd be nice if it at least had a point like thumbs' "thumbs up" or University Blue's ever-changing sigs. Back to the discussion however...I love to hear about members of our team playing tough defense. Does anyone think his play affected Iverson's shooting percentage or did Ivy just have a horrible night?
I think Ivy had a HORRIBLE night. He scored at least 10 points in 168 consecutive games. And then...CUTTINO MOBLEY SHUTS HIM DOWN? The same Cuttino Mobley who can't guard Kerry Kittles? This is just strange for Allen. Remember last season, he scored 58 points. Career high. Was Mobley guarding him? Allen Iverson just lost it. He was doing pretty good in the first quarter... OR it may have been Cuttino's defense. This is the only shooting guard Mobley is taller than. I loved Mobley's defense. Hopefully he can defend like that against T-Mac. And hopefully his left hand is all better and his right hand is broken. This means he won't be trying to force airballs. And he will just take to good, open shots. And then he will focus on defense. Good job Cat!
Iverson had bursitis in his left knee which probly messed him up a little. But Mobley's D probly had a large part to do with it too. Remember the first game when he held Iverson to 5-19 and just 11 points? I don't think it's that big a coincedence that Iverson shot badly again, 4-23 for 8 pts. He didn't even go to the free throw line once! Good D by Mobley.
I attribute Iverson's poor shooting night to Yao more then Mobley. I saw a bunch of plays where Iverson drove right in the lane that he normally would put up a shot on that would be high percentage normally, that he didn't even try to attempt because Yao was there clogging the paint. Mobley played good D, but Iverson was left to jack up perimeter buckets all night because of Yao, and Iverson's not a very perimeter shooter.
yea, i was halfway joking...Mobley did however do a great job in my opinion of pushing iverson top the help...The rockets played excellent help D tonight, even stevie...
It's combination of Mobley's good D and Iverson's injury/off night. But to be honest I think it's latter more than former. Come on 4-23 is just too unnormal even with good D. Iverson used to make very tough shots and can score on the toughest defenders. He's simply not himself. I don't think this game could prove that Mobley's a good defender, certainly not in the class of Artest. Artest's really good, he can really limit Kobe and T-Mac when he wants to while Mobley just let Kobe just kept letting Kobe scored his season highs on him. Mobley's in a natural disadvantage though with his height.
obviously there's no single reason someone shoots 4-23 (though iverson ain't exactly larry bird like in his shooting percentage anyway). cuttino obviously played great D on him. there was almost no shot iverson attempted that cuttino's hand wasn't right up in his face (the two i saw him make seemed to actually be 2 of the more challenged/difficult shots he attempted) and the fact cuttino has a solid 3 to 4 inches on him meant iverson actually had to worry a little about the challenges and shoot uncomfortably. cuttino also did a very good job of staying with someone who is probably the fastest player in the nba (or top 3 minimum). i'm sure the knee had a little to do with it but iverson wasn't exactly moving like glen rice out there. also, if this was just one game, i could chalk it up to AI being AI, he does have these crappy games from time to time. but when you shoot 5-19 and then 4-23 against the same guy, credit has to start going to the defender. and umm no, yao didn't have more to do with iverson's shooting night than cuttino. that's absurd. iverson does like to drive but he takes plenty of jump shots in the games of his that i watch. usually people can't keep up with him and challenge them as well as Cat did tonight. sure having yao back there helps and the fact we did a good job switching momentarily if cuttino had to get around a screen helped, but i'm gonna be crazy and give more credit to the man who had to chase him all over the court for 40 minutes and challenged all his shots. it's not like iverson doesn't take it in against good shot blockers when he does face them, yao isn't special in that respect.
GUTTER SNIPE, you are the biggest baby i have ever not met. you should thank me for giving you a reason to wake up in the morning. report that.
