LMAO....so much for them breaking news first! Now there saying damage to homes and "Dolphin World" Gift Shop.
I've seen several off Galveston and in the bay over the years. I remember racing away in a power boat on one occasion, when one headed straight for us. Kind of exciting, really.
what if you do get the chance to see one close and personal.. but it turns out to be an EF5...? what would you say then..?
No, not at all. We weren't the only boat haulin' ass away from the damn thing. They aren't as bad as a tornado, usually, but you wouldn't want to be caught by one. When one shows up on the bay, every boat in sight takes off, like someone kicked an ant hill. I've seen at least three on the bay and 2 or 3 at San Luis Pass. We took refuge under a bridge once, and that one got pretty close. I used to go fishing and sailing on Galveston Bay all the time when I lived in Houston. Often went to San Luis to fish and mess around on beach. It used to be a nice place to camp and go fishing at dawn. We used to gig flounder at night, too. That's a real trip!
