Golden State area would be in love with Yao. Could be a great business decision for GS and a great basketball decision for us.
I don't think Yao is a good fit for the running and gunning warriors... Isn't exactly the fastest guy around
Yao's loyalty to Houston is far too great for him not to re-sign with us before even thinking about signing with the warriors. Unless they want to trade for him now and take a gamble on persuading him to stay, but even then I just don't see it happening let alone a trade.
I don't think they will stick with that style. They had to run because of their lack of size. With Yao they will become a more traditional half court team.
Still working hard eh Morey? Warriors want Yao in free agency because they know trading with us to get him gets in the way of Morey sleepy time.
Curry + Biedrins + Lee for Yao + Scola + Martin + Brooks + Lowry + Battier + Hill + Patterson + Budinger + Miller + .... ok I'm kidding.
They could use Yaos contract to match salaries for a pretty sizable trade if they want to. That would take some effort and imagination. I dont know who they are talking to and about though. Seems like they are everywhere and nowhere for this trade season. Nobody knows what to expect or how. Not even rumors out there with teams. Its like there isnt any talking out there or contact or its real quiet for this season in particular.
Yao would be a publicity stunt for the Bay Area, with its large ethnic Chinese population. If he ends up getting healthy enough to play, so much the better. In the meantime, for a least a season or two, they would benefit from The Yao Effect. Personally, I hope we're able to keep him for a small contract. From where I sit, he owes us that. Some will disagree.
I know the article states the offseason, but we all know Yao is a loyal dude and he'd give the Rockets leeway into resigning him. That, and if he does want to leave, Yao would make more $ via sign and trade. Then there's talk of a possible franchise tag in the new CBA, so, they might not even get a crack at Yao. Do it Morey! Get us Steph
Certianly, I disagree. Financially, Yao has made more money for Rockets than he's got paid, even if there is no insurance. Not to mention he paid his teammates for Les to keep them happier as a Rocket. In locker room, when the superstar doesn't complain and is very nice, everybody else follows suit. Rockets have a better locker room than on court product. On the court, Yao has given all the effort, and he lived up to his expectation when he was healthy. He also attracted players like Tmac and Artest etc to play for Rockets. Rocket didn't have a lot success in playoffs, but that has more to do with Rocekts owner/GM than Yao, when they surround Yao/Tmac with nobody else at the time when they were still healthy. Finally, Yao got injured on the court. If a solder is died or injured during a war, he doesn't owe his country, his country owes him.
