The duo was on ABC news this morning confirming that they will be on 97.5 tomorrow morning. I was a big fan, so I excited as all hell to have a good morning show again (god knows Rod Ryan has zero talent).
I never understood the concept of the morning show on radio. I remember Hudson & Harrigan (the original), Stevens and Pruett and even Moby. They all bored the hell out off me. Un-funny, un-original, bathroom humor at 7am...uh, pass.
I would rather listen to music or a talk show. Since no one plays the kind of music I really like, I listen to talk shows or a CD. I really have no sense of humor in the morning anyway .
I love listening to the morning shows. They used to play Walton and Johnson here in College Station. Until Rock101 went bye bye, then they played it here for a few weeks until, I believe they left that Evil Company.... I can't remember the name of the Radio Company.
Really? Never? I can't think of anyone who didn't listen to Stevens and Pruitt in high school in the 80's.
I like Dean & Rog on 93.7. They are real funny, mellow and don't try to push the envelope. They keep it real. Good stuff.
I listened because my dad liked to listen to it. I hated it. I always wanted to put a tape in the deck but he wanted to hear it. That and freakin' Moby. I was so glad when I got a car and I didn't have to listen to them anymore.
I couldn't stand that guy. Mind you, I met him (and Stevens & Pruett) several times when they did in-stores at the music store where I worked and they were all really nice folks, but that radio show sucked donkey balls. I'm surprised my dad patronized that show considering how much he hated Jon Matthews. They worked together on the radio in the 70's and nobody liked that guy.
No offense, but these guys always sound like redneck idiots the few times I've heard them. Maybe I just didn't get "it."
I like Sam Malone, I just can't stand Maria Todd. Especially when she starts to sing or hum along with a tune. She's horrible. Is it me or is 97.5 signal weak? Out of all of the stations I have on my dial it is the worst. It almost sounds like it's in mono at times it's so bad. I've tried it on both of my cars so something must be wrong.
I thought Sevens and Pruett were okay in their hayday. Back in the days of the Holiday Ball, with "Tubby Peckerwood" (Tom Lohler of Brigadeer limo) and Lock, it was pretty good. They used to send Lock out to do some of the craziest things in the world. They got compared to Howard Stern a lot, but I never liked Sterns' show. Same old "interview a pr0n star and talk about her chest" stuff. When I was in Chicago on business years ago, I really liked Mancow's show. -- droxford
I get interference at 610 and 290 on it. They need to boost the juice. I heard a "Best Of" Mancow when my wife and I were in the Midwest for the holidays a few years back. He had Colin Hay from Men At Work doing solo acoustical versions of "Who Can It Be Now" and "Down Under". Really memorable stuff.
No no, you're forgetting the limp-wristed *** stereotype and the radio equivalent of blackface. It's not just redneck idiocy, though I suppose it's all from the same root. I guess to some people, this dreck qualifies as "edgy" rather than "tired." I was enjoying waking up to music on 97.5 while it lasted. Oh well. I guess they'd rather repeat 101's mistakes than give something new a chance to prosper for them.
The 97.5 signal is weak because the transmitter is actually located in Beaumont, therefore it's easier to receive 97.5 in the eastern part of the city. I understand they are working on a new transmitter closer to Houston.
right...according to what I have heard...they are building a transmitter in LaPorte....and then they are supposedly switching to a higher frequency...around 103-something or another... Harrisment... you aint the only one...I couldnt, and still cant, stand those rednecks...they aint funny at all...I dont know what the hell CC was thinking, setting up a rock channel with stupid cajun redneck humor... I guess they figger that the only thing in Houston is cowboys...yeehaw.
