You're probably right, but I just keep hoping my Bucks can find a way to win out. No way will OSU get to play Miami with a loss over UT or OK, so I have to keep hoping to run the table and that everyone else takes a loss at some point.

Anyways I am all for a playoff system so if w ehave another year where there are four one loss teams it just creates more controversy. Plus if the four are all makor universities (UT, OK, OSU, maybe GA) then that would even create more of a buzz for a playoff system!

Anyways for all of you going to the UT-OK game have a great time this weekend, that would be an awesome game to be at!

It's definitely going to be interesting for me. I finally got my ticket this weekend, but it's on the OU side. If the Horns are winning, that seat will be priceless... of course, if they aren't... :(

By the way, y'all want to use this as the official "predictions/trash talking" thread, or should we make a new one? I am about ready to start. :)

I can't think of one reason why D-2 and D-3 can have playoffs but DI can't. OK, I know money is the reason, but what's another?

I'd rather have playoffs because at the current state, the loser of the game in Dallas next week needs alot of help to make it to the Fiesta Bowl. Maybe that's a reason not to have a playoff though. You have to win every game, lol.

The issues I have heard are:
    1. Money which is the issue
    2. Too many games for the players. This is BS, OSU played in the kickoff classic so we will have 14 games this year (assuming a bowl game). If we goto a playoff system just limit the regular season to 11-12 games. They try to claim it would make the season too long and take athletes away from their studies.
    3. Travel- Basic point here is do you hold the playoffs in set locations (for example the 1st round games will be in Orlando, Hoston, Los Angeles and Minnesota) or does the higher ranked team hos the game. Either way there is alot of last minute travel to take care of, and it makes it tough to sell tickets to games if noone knows until the week before where/who they play. At least with the bowl games you get a month to plan th etrips. Conversely it's the same setup for College B-ball, you don't know where/when you're going until the last minute.
    4. Bowls- What to do with the old bowl games. One of the suggestions was to move the old Bowl names to the preliminary rounds, so the Cotton Bowl would be a 1st round game with Miami-Notre Dame.

Anyways I don't know what the best solution is. I don't know if it should be a 4 team, 8 team or 16 team tournament. I don't know where the games should be played, etc. But I do know it would be awesome to see the best 4, 8 or 16 teams battling it out for the Championship in a tournament.

OU passes Texas in the AP poll: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankings?poll=1

The AP poll, throughout the poll, is a much better ranking than the coaches poll this week - though I'm not sure OU should've jumped past Texas.

OU was already ahead of Texas in the AP poll.

you sure about that? i'm almost certain that Texas finally jumped over OU last week, making them #2 in both polls the first time this season...

    edit:
according to ESPN, TEX was #2 in the AP poll last week...

    Damn, where have I been.

Yeah, mfclark is right, we must have passed OU in the last week or two, and I didn't notice.

4chuckie, I think all of the problems you listed can be addressed and are rather minor. You could tie the bowl games into the playoff system. Liberty bowl winner plays peach bowl winner in the citrus bowl. I would love to hear "the winner of this fsu/osu game" meets the ''USC/UGA" winner next week in Houston.

Yeah, I'm sorry I don't ignore bad calls like the rest of you. If you can find an example of when I said that was ok that wasn't within 24 hours of the game, please do. And, if you can prove what relevance it has in this thread other than just bringing it up as an unprovoked personal attack, I'd like to hear it.

I call it like I see it. There's a lot of bad calls in sports, and believe it or not, some of them decide games. When they do, I talk about it. If it's that much of a problem for you, just put me on ignore, and you don't have to worry about it.

One call can never decide a game with over 100 plays in it. Maybe instead of the ref making a bad call (which I agree they do all the time) towards the end of the game, the b****ing team shouldn't have made a bad play in the first quarter. Did those "bad" calls in the UT game cause the Longhorns to miss field goals or not tackle their running back on that long TD run? I don't think so.

Regardless, the only call that I don't know about was the unsportsmanlike conduct call, but I haven't seen a replay of it. The pass interference calls looked legit to me.

Here's a question. Isn't whether a ball in uncatchable or not, not a rule in NCAA football, but only in the NFL? If I'm wrong, then I agree that the pass interference call right before their near tying TD was a bad call.

in the Tennessee-Ark. game last night they ruled it uncatchable, therefore no pass interference.....is this what you mean?

Yeah, so I guess I was wrong. Wow, that's the 100,000th time in my life...congrats on pointing it out.

    :)

OK, then the one call by the refs was bad, but it still didn't cause Dusty Mangum to miss three field goals.
