I don't know, Miami barely beat BC last year, but they were #1. Are you another one of those guys who hate UT because the y didn't accept you? This is the same OSU team that beat ou at home.
I am a student currently enrolled at OU, I love football. And I'd just like to say that a lot of the people who have posted in this thread, OU and UT fans alike, are being very immature. It freaking football smack! Nothing more, nothing less. Quit taking it so seriously. mduke, come on man, can't you let up a bit (you know, no more openings for shots at Stoops. )? No, UT was never on my list. I went to academically stronger intitution. I do not hate UT, I can care less. Just that I notice UT has beaten nobody, and one saturday when I actually watch them, then are not impressive at all. OSU struggles when they don't have Clarret, but at least they have beaten somebody. If ranking is judged on talent alone, I guess we can just use cruiting as the source and do away with the season. UT might ultimately prove thye belong there at no 2, but right now there are more deserving teams.
Two things. 1. I didn't think the refs were that bad. The two pass interferenece calls could have gone either way, IMO. I'm pretty sure the refs weren't out to get the Longhorns, but I'm sure some of you (well, <B>one</B>) would've condoned throwing stuff on the field. My only concern about them was the unsportsmanlike call on Vasher, yet OSU players were celebrating alone and towards the UT bench but no call. 2. I'm pretty sure Michigan is considered a better school than UT. That's between South Carolina and California (I guess you're admitting that Cal is a better academic school).

The funny thing is that I have no problem whatsoever with UT. It's a good school. I don't have a problem with any of the fans I know personally or any of the ones that sit around me at the games. I also haven't compared Simms to Major once anytime recently. Major isn't here, so that's entirely irrelevent. I have a problem with the fans who consistently and endlessly proclaim our football team as the greatest thing ever, regardless of its merits, and constantly demean other universities as though they have some type of inferiority complex and are trying to convince themselves that UT really is good. It's those fans that give UT fans a reputation of being arrogant and obnoxious, and that's why it annoys me.
the reason UT is ranked so high is b/c rankings are created before a single game is played... so how exactly are they based? well, last season's record, last season's finish in the polls, number of returning seniors, number of potential All-Americans... based on all of that, Texas does deserve to be in the top 3... and they won't fall out until they lose a game. if rankings weren't out until late October (as I have many times stated was my greatest desire), than UT wouldn't be anywhere near the top 5 b/c of the low quality of competition to date. It's ridiculous how they try to sweep away any criticism of the team. I understand deleting / banning the ridiculous stuff ("so-and-so sucks and needs to be cut!!"), but there's no reason to ban someone for posting anything semi-negative about the team. I think JBIIRockets got banned from there a while back. That said, I'll visit it every so often as an information source.
UT fans you won that's all that matters. Some of you told me to stop making excuses for the way Ohio State played vs. Cincinnati, well to you there was a bullet you dodged. Bottom line is you won. Now go out there and beat OU next week!!! (I have nothing against Oklahoma but they have a much easier schedule than UT for the remainder of the season so I'd rather UT win and take my chances that A&M can pull the upset vs. UT later on.) Dude, you are an ass. I made one freaking mistake. I overreacted during an intense game, which I'm sure that you've never done, and I have apologized for it. I would obviously never do anything like that personally, and I'm sorry I overreacted during the game. What the hell else do you want from me? I made a ****ing mistake. I'm sure you've gotten second chances repeatedly, but seemingly I am still tied to one out of line comment I made a year ago.
As they should. The only other team that could've been 2 is OU, and both teams struggled, so why switch them? Like who? As I said, the top 3 are pretty easy....the only other teams you could make a case for are VaTech and maybe Georgia..... Until Texas or Oklahoma loses, the top 3 teams are going to stay the same. I like A&M's chances of beating one of the big boys.....I think Iowa State and A&M have the best chance of beating OU besides Texas.

I meant if you drove from South Carolina to California. You wouldn't have to go through MIchigan. There are at least 5 public schools in California that are rated higher than Texas. Michigan, UVa, UNC, and PSU are also considered stronger. I don't think it would take much for UT to get into that class though. 4chuckie, I think that by the time the Fiesta bowl rolls around, the bcs will have to choose between 4 1-loss teams to play Miami.

thanks... yup, all the writing is my own. lot of content due to lack of job! i'm trying to get a job in sports journalism, so i thought i'd create a forum for my writing... so far it has gotten me in touch with an old childhood friend who i haven't talked to in 8 years, a "credit" in the bibliography in some college kid's term paper, and a compliment from Fox Sports anchorwoman and resident hottie Lisa Guerrero... not bad, I guess.
