And another thing, problem we have compared to say Chicago, Chicago had its two most important building blocks on rookie scale contracts (Rose and Noah), it didn't really have to clear all that much space as as it was was paying derrick 5 or 6m and noah 2.

Chicago was very well set up on that occasion, but I felt they wasted their capspace a bit. They used a sizeable chunk of that capspace on role players like Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, Keith Bogans, Omer Asik, CJ Watson. If they combined all that salary together I'm sure that would make up for the difference between the salary difference between a rookie scale contract and a veteran contract. I.e. The difference between the contracts of Kevin Martin and Derrick Rose.

Don't see the NBA trading away CP3, he is the only thing that makes the team attractive to a buyer.

But if we were to get him somehow, I think we could entice Dwight.

The appeal of the Houston big man legacy and the chance to train with CD and Hakeem full time might appeal to Howard.

I'm sure NBA would have sold the team already by 2012, lol

My dream roster in 2012. Its very much realistic (in my dreams).

    CP3
    Mayo
    Wallace
    J.Smith
    Howard

    Heinrich - 6th man.
    JVG Coach

All players excell just as well in defence and they do in offense. If we can get a decent bench then we are injury proof as well. Les will have to empty his pockets as this will be $90 Mill roster for sure.

I disagree, I think if you are in the market for an NBA team...

It's a long term investment, the state of the current team isn't paramount. Not to mention ,you know he's going to bolt, I know he's going to bolt, and a potential owner knows he's gonna bolt. Potential buyers may prefer that blood be on the NBA's hands in the eyes of their prospective fan base.

Also if you shell out money for the team, it may be beneficial to start with a lower overhead payroll, or even a clean slate of sorts. Trading Chris Paul is going to be their only hope at shedding Okafor as well. That will grant the new owner the flexibility to build the team that they want to build.

In general, I wouldn't be surprised to see the NBA trade CP3 sooner rather than later. And yes I agree that the Rockets are probably the only team that could give Paul and Howard a shot at being on a team that can beat the Heat. (maybe Clippers could too)

In that case, I don't think Brooks/Scola is enough. Even Derrick Favors can barely get Melo done. So we need to trade Harrison Barnes if we need to get CP3 from NOL.

They'll probably move it to the city of the highest bidder. Now its just up to an investor from Kansas City or Anaheim to step up and buy it.

Good points, but what about the idea that the NBA wants to avoid the appearance of favoritism toward a particular team and therefore won't trade CP3?
