LMFAO!!! I literally LOL when I read this thread... man, denial is hard to over come isn't it OP...
ROTFLMAO @ us getting CP3 and Dwight. Yea ****ing right. That's beyond a dream scenario. I would be ecstatic, but i dont see it happening.
2012 Chris Paul Tracy McGrady Carmelo Anthony Dwight Howard Yao Ming Make it happen Morey!!!! Spoiler
Not bad, love the idea. We're the 3rd worst team in the west anyways, only better than Minnesota and Sacramento. Blow this team up and get some stars in the draft on rookie drafts: After the trade deadline: Brooks Martin D-League SF Patrick Patterson Jordan Hill Next season Brooks Martin Harrison Barnes Patrick Patterson Jordan Hill 2012 offseason Paul Martin Harrison Barnes Anthony Davis Howard
Howard doesn't want to play with an all star, sure there are some but he seems more inclined on targeting players who would compliment him to make a contender. Boozer isn't really an all star, but he wanted him, Martin is another one he wanted, because he's a foul drawer/outside shooter that shoots both well, and thern there's Wallace, because let's be honest, you could have the 3 worst defensive pf/pg/sg (as we're close to with brooks on the court, lol), but with Dwight and Gerald your defense would be top 3 elite. Sure Paul is on his wishlist too, a lot more so than say Deron because Paul's skillset compliments Dwight much better. Which is the complete opposite of say how Amare and Carmelo basically have the same skill set as eachother. The other thing is, salary space isnt really that important as much as it is having players that you can win with, if Dwight for example said "I want to play in Houston", and Orlando refused to deal him for what would undoubtedly be a net loss but would be better than nothing, being forced to relegate to his 2nd choice, they would get next to nothing absolutely guaranteed.
Headliners Chris Paul (ETO): CP3 isn't a free agent now? Memos and warnings aside, courting clubs will spend the next two years lining up, a la LeBron. The question for the Hornets' new front office: Do they wait it out and risk losing the league's best point guard for nothing in return or, unlike Toronto and Cleveland, broker a deal to get value back? Deron Williams (ETO): The league's other best point guard could hold Utah's competitive existence in the balance or build a legacy reminiscent of John Stockton. Money and where the Jazz stand in the Western Conference are sure to come into play. Bring 'Em On Gerald Wallace (ETO): First-time All Star last season will be 30 in two years. Has battled injuries and considering Charlotte's money-pinching ways, bet on a change of scenery. Goran Dragic: Either he's ready to take over for Steve Nash in Phoenix or this crafty lefty will be sailing his own ship in different waters. Kirk Hinrich: Goes from playing alongside/behind Derrick Rose in Chicago to doing the same with John Wall in Washington. Teams in need of a starting point will pursue Hinrich. Andre Blatche: Blossomed last season, giving Washington an easy decision when it came to moving Brendan Haywood. Young centers equal serious cash. Chauncey Billups: At 36, Denver's quarterback is in position for the contract that allows a graceful John Elway exit. Ron Artest (ETO): No sense in predicting what's next. That's a task for the Lakers and Ron-Ron's psychiatrist. Jason Terry: Dallas' former Sixth Man of the Year will be on the career backend at 35. Ray Allen: Unclear if a market will exist for a Boston sharpshooter who will be 37. Kevin Garnett: With his ring and legacy secure, will it be time to hang it up at 36? Boston hopes not. Steve Nash: Captain Canada once said he could envision playing up to 40. He'll be 38 when the current two-year extension expires. Jason Kidd: Dallas playmaker will be 39 and has to retire sometime, right? Not Yet Free Russell Westbrook: Locking up the multi-talented point guard is the new No. 1 order of business for GM Sam Presti in OKC. O.J. Mayo: The Grizzlies did right by Rudy Gay. You have to expect a repeat performance for Mr. Mayo. Brook Lopez: The prediction here is at least one All-Star berth for New Jersey's soft-spoken 7-footer in the next two years. Mikhail Prokhorov will pony up. George Hill: Count on Hill assuming a much bigger role in San Antonio's scheme, if he hasn't done so already. Danilo Gallinari: Plenty of room to shine with David Lee out of the picture and the attention given to Amar'e Stoudemire. Robin Lopez: Doesn't have the ceiling of twin bother Brook, but hard-working Robin figures to be a more-than-serviceable big man for a long time. Rudy Fernandez: Once seen as the next Manu Ginobili, this Spanish import has likely seen his last days in Portland. JaVale McGee: One of the standouts of the recent Summer League is on everyone's radar now. Morey, start clearing capspace now!
1) The salaries do not match in the CP3 trade. 2) If the Rocket shave Kevin Martin, CP3, Scola, other players, and charges for minimum roster size, the Rockets would not have enough cap space to give a max contract for DHoward.(fixed some typos) 3) Why would DHoward sign for $13- mil less with the Rockets over the Orlando Magic, unless he was chasing a ring? 4) Rockets can only use the MLE or capspace, not both. If they are using capspace for DHoward, they got nothing left.
Its best not to have Scola if we are going for this plan. CP3 KMartin DH12 The rest can be rookie scales
Agred. Rockets would need to convince New Orleans to take on the rest of Scola's salary along with Brooks to match CP3's salary. I think it's impossible, though. They would be taking on Scola big contract, when they have David West already.
Mimi cleaned house because for them it wasn't about what might happen, but making sure they had enough room so there was no chance of being nixed by a team saying no, for what they knew would happen. Wade was working as their front man and because he was a player, he was outside of the "no tampering rules".
I like the idea, and I have thought about this as well. But this may be a little premature and a lot can happen between now and then (injuries, a trade or a luckier than expected draft pick or player). From what has been written, Paul will go wherever Melo likely goes. But Howard may be another matter. If his team doesn't win and he wants out, I agree, it's time to clear the decks to get him. NY, Chi and Miami (special case, I know) all cleared space, and if they didn't get their top goal they got a good player that helped them become successful.
If I'm getting you right, you saying Miami always knew that the big 3 was theirs already years before they started clearing house? If thats what you are saying, then, yes, I totally agree. Miami actually knew the top 3 was coming to them when they started trading away all the veterans they had. However, Chi/NY got what they wanted. The only sign and trade this summer was the David Lee to GSW S&T, and David Lee I don't think what all that high on GM"s free agent pursuits
Chicago and New York cleared cap space at about 60-75c to the dollar, they lost out but not majorly, Miami cleared cap space at something absurd like 10c to the dollar, they were basically throwing everything but the kitchen sink out the door and got virtually nothing for anything at all. Chicago and NY's rosters were still mostly full with cap room and player space for a cpl people, Miami had a roster of 2 players. There's no way I can honestly believe Riley is going to literally give away anything and everything for something he's not quite sure of, he's no Kahhhhhhhn.
