No, Ric has taught us all that players are simply robots. There is nothing special in Vince that Carr can't do as well.

Exactly, great post. Being a fan means being there for the bad times as well as the good. I remember those days when nobody wore Rockets jerseys. I also remember an argument with some friends over who was better- Hakeem or Pippen. Of course those people eventually got on the Hakeem and Rockets bandwagon, just like people here will get on the Texans once they get better.

major wrote a good post in another thread. there are people including myself who have been following young before the texans existed. the texans are a new team. you say follow your team in the good times and bad, there are no good times. this team has to earn loyalty. just because you put houston on your jersey doesn't make me a fan automatically.

It's these types of things make me root against Vince Young. He is a football player. THAT IS IT!! He is not Jesus. He is not a Saint. Hell, he isn't even Michael Jordan or Joe Montana. When you call him Jesus, it's insulting to people. When you equate him to a Saint, it's ridiculous.

It's sad when people make him out to be a whole lot more than he is.

WTF are you guys talking about. You can never be critical of a player or wish for another direction of the team? Mr Meowgi, I know you are full of **** because I was around you during those Rocket years you are referring to. I'm a Texan fan, just not a Carr fan anymore, but the rest of the team yes

I don't see a problem with rooting for players on other teams (although I don't do that) but I don't like hating on the hometown team. I never liked it against he Rockets or Astros even when they sucked.

And what is difference between waiting for a team to earn your loyalty and being a bandwagon fan? Weren't the fans who hated on the Rockets or Astros in the early '90s just waiting for them to earn their loyalty? To me, I think it's special watching a franchise from its inception, even if they do suck.

People are acting like the Texans are going to suck forever. All franchises go through periods of sucking.

    okay, wait.

The Texans were created in 1999. Well, we were atleast awarded the Franchise.

Vince Young barely got into Madison in 1999. He was just a freshmen. Freshmens traditionally don't play on Varsity. You're telling me that people were following VY since Junior High?

Vince left Madison in the Spring of 2002, and was redshirted his first year at Austin.

the texans have been playing football since 2002. how can I follow a team that doesn't even have any players in 1999.

and you know what, there are people in houston who knew who vince was in jr high, but mainly because of basketball

Can agree on Vince or any player being simply that, an athlete. All the Saint stuff though is just joking around, lighten up. Everyone knows Hakeem really isn't a Dream but we all go along with it and have fun.

What did I say that wasn't true?

You can wish for a new direction, but obsessing over an opposing player to the point of wanting the home team the lose is ridiculous.

Thank Bud Adams for that. He didn't even give you the chance of VY becoming an Oiler. He took it all away. But now people here want his team to beat Houston and the owner who brought us back a NFL team that the other took away. Go figure.

That I agree with, but to not be able to be critical of the hometeam is what I'm talking about.

You can be critical all you want. It's jumping off the bandwagon and saying you're a fan of another team that is the problem.

believe me, I was just as excited as anyone that the nfl came back to houston. I'm not really even that upset that they didn't take vince. they have made plenty decisions that I have disagreed with, the first, the name "texans". then the colors, then the longhor err bull. that's just to get started.

they are so bland, but if you're gonna be bland, you better win. the oilers had personality, win or lose.

hoping the home team loses and your divisional rival win is far from just being critical.
