All I can say is I'm very very impressed by him and if he keeps up his current level of play how much do you think we resign him for? With all the wings on this team so injury prone I would like to keep him here long term.
LOL.... No NBA player will take $10 million for 5 years. That's too little.. too long. I think $4 mill a year is too much for him. I would give him $2~3 million a year for 3 years and that's something Wafer would probably take.
Sam Mack, Rod Rhodes, Joaquin Hawkins, Oscar Torres... I love Wafer, but he's just the latest in a long line of swingmen that drive up fans' delusions of long term grandeur... Enjoy it, but let's be serious here.
I'm not saying he's our savior but he is a solid backup at the SG/SF positions and would be pretty affordable I think.
despite his good offensive game... this guy is a big liability at defensive end due to his size... he is the Landry at SG spot... it's a bad move to let him play starter minutes..
it's not all about height.. it's also about arm length, strenth, weight, width too. i've noticed in past games opponents like to post Wafer up with an size advantage.
You beat me to it by starting this thread. If I'm Daryl Morey, I call Von into my office between now and Friday, sit him down and offer him a minimum contract with a full guarantee for next year. As a relative journeyman, Wafer may be seeking security. He knows that he fits in with Adelman's system. If the Rockets (stupidly) waive him, there are no guarantees that whatever team picks him up will have a role for him in which he can thrive. Of course, if I'm Wafer's agent, I take my chances with free agency. But it would be the smart thing for Morey to at least attempt to get that deal done.
If Landry got 3.5 I would think Wafer is good for 1.8 per max. Bogans was probably more sought after when he left Houston.
2 mil a year for 3 yrs, with the final year being team option is as far as id go... he might fit into adelmans system but i have to agree he is a defensive liability...
Wafer is not only looking okay, he's actually the team's best perimeter shooter right now. 46.22% from the field, 42.85% 3pters. Not gonna go overboard with him. He can be like a Kelenna Azubuike, he can easily be Oscar Torres. What you CAN take a definite chance on now is saying he can replace Luther Head.
