Need to see more of Wafer before making him > than Head. I am sure he will get more minutes to find out.

i would like to see more of wafer but one thing i'm sure of is that we have no use for mike harris...the guy is useless on your current squad...He is basically an undersized 4...so the only two positions he can play would be the 3 or 4...
at the 4 hes behind scola, landry, artest, hayes
and at the 3 hes behind tmac, battier, artest
so where does he fit? not on our squad.

I would like to keep head and wafer but that does not seem possible

This might be true but so is this - Head > Francis. Wafer is showing everything we were hoping to see from Francis. Meanwhile Francis is still MIA. I say goodbye Francis, hello Mr Wafer.

IMO they both suck!!! But at least Head can get on the floor. Francis is a wasted roster spot. I say give it to Wafer. He is earning it ON THE COURT.

Wafer is a Tmac lite. Blow hot and cold. Problem is too long of a cold period.

Before we all give Wafer the last roster spot, think back to the last #13 on this team, Kirk Snyder. They are both very similar: they both have crazy athleticism, can run the floor, and even their jumpshots look strangely similar. For whatever reason Kirk did not fit on this team, you gotta wonder if Wafer will be any better. And also from what I see, Kirk's defense was way better than Wafer's.

I would rather see Steve on the bench cheerleading than Head on the court turning the ball over

I think it's safe to say that Wafer is a better shooter than Snyder. I don't care what Wafer's number were in limited minutes so far in his extremely brief NBA career. He has good shooting form and a quick, high release. Snyder's form was/is awkward. If Snyder was a good shooter, he would be a heck of a player in this league. He's not, though.

Who cares? Von Wafer, Head and even Harris (like that guy's effort) are all competing to be the new Rocket Victory Cigar. With all the moves this team has made if any of those guys see meaningful minutes it means this team is so injury riddled that a title run will be the last thing on anyone's mind.

Btw, what is up with Kirk? Why doesn't he have a job? He is a decent player if he doesn't force things (like he did with us last preseason)... Is he holding out for a bigger contract?

Just trade Brooks, Head, Harris and a 1st rounder

    For

    Steve Blake and a 2nd

Waive Strawberry, trade SF3 for a 2nd rounder, Sign Deke and get to keep Wafer

    Alston/Blake
    Tmac/Barry/Wafer
    Ron Artest/Battier
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Yao/Dorsey/Deke

    Championship 09

As a Rocket under Adelman, Snyder couldn't hit the side of a barn. He was awful last pre-season.

Rockets are deep enough and have the versatility not to need Brooks or Head right now:

    Alston, Barry, (Wafer), (McGrady)
    McGrady, (Barry), (Artest), Wafer
    Artest, Battier, Harris
    Scola, Landry, (Artest), Dorsey
    Yao, (Scola), Hayes, (Dorsey)

Who knows, maybe Snyder's role in RA's system might be more effectively than that of JVG's.

Snyder's jumpshot is very very ugly though, does not resemble Wafer one bit IMO. Snyder is a SG with a non-shooting PF jumpshot. He has speed and is very strong for a SG, but he lacks in every other factor. No handles, no court vision, no jumpshot.

    Chron's salary estimates:
    Luis Scola $3.1M
    Ron Artest $7.4M
    Yao Ming $15.1M
    Tracy McGrady $19.6M
    Rafer Alston $4.9M
    Shane Battier $6.3M
    Luther Head $1.9M
    Brent Barry $1.9M
    Aaron Brooks $1.0M
    Chuck Hayes $1.9M
    Total $63.1M

    http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-player-salaries/team/Rockets
    Steve Francis $2,634,480
    Mike Harris $711,517
    Justin Reed $1,573,000

    http://hoopshype.com/salaries/houston.htm
    Joey Dorsey $816,500

    Carl Landry $3M

    Von Wafer $797,581 (after rebate)
    DJ Strawberry $711,517
    Dikembe Mutombo $797,581 (after rebate)

    LT threshold: $71.15M
Rocket's team salary: c.$71.84M (not including Wafer, Strawberry, and Deke)

Brooks + Head for TE + Sean Williams
TE can't be packaged but trade works if broken down into two seperate deals
    Rockets save c.$1.48M

    Alston, Barry
    McGrady, Wafer, Francis
    Artest, Battier, Harris
    Scola, Landry, Dorsey
    Yao, Williams, Hayes
    c.71.16M

Trade Hayes for a TE, sign Deke: c.$70.06M
Teams holding appropriate TEs: Chicago, Denver, Indiana, Milwaukee, Oklahoma, and Orlando
Rockets are then c.$1.09M under LT

Rockets also achieve the salary space to sign a 3rd PG if needed

    Alston, Barry, (Armstrong/Stoudamire/Barrera)
    McGrady, Wafer, Francis
    Artest, Battier, Harris
    Scola, Landry, Dorsey
    Yao, Williams, Deke

And why would Portland do that? Bayless and Sergio are still raw and Roy's preferred position is SG. Portland would say no to that deal straight away.

It's pointless talking about Von Wafer. He ain't going to be a piece of the puzzle. If he is, then we're screwed anyways. End this conversation already. If Azubuke, whos the best player out of the bunch of kirk, wafer, and himself, won't stick on this team, there's no way wafer will.

    Stop this futile discussion already!

    Alston/Brooks/Francis
    T-Mac/Barry/Head/Wafer/Strawberry
    Artest/Battier/Harris
    Scola/Landry/Hayes
    Yao/Mutombo/Dorsey

17 guys, two must go. If it's up to me I drop Francis and Strawberry. I know there's many Stevie fanboys out there, but face reality..... it's over. He's not coming back. He's just gonna waste a roster spot when it could be used for someone who's trying their ass of like Wafer. I don't even think Stevie will get 20 games in this season.

Of the remaining 15, I'd say Wafer, Harris, and Head/Brooks would stay on the injured reserve.

I do enjoy watching Mike, however, your point is correct. No time for the guy on the floor at the 3 or 4. I doubt that he can play the 2 due to quickness. I feel bad for him.

However, i still believe Wafer is better than Head at giving us some points. We've given Head enough opportunities. Let's give Wafer a shot, it doesn't hurt the team 1 iota.
