what's the number of his jersey? 23 hahahahahahaha.. cough cough.....hahaha. :p we have already had 16 rosters on team, man, and even without deke signed. If morey sign deke and it's likely to happen, then our roster's list will reach 17, say, morey will have to cut two of them before the season begins. Even though vafer palyed for rockets last night, I assume vafer had just signed a unprotected contract with rockets team because morey is no an idiot like me. if he proved him better than head or strewberry, then those two would be given up, otherwise, vafer is to be cut off with no pay.

TE for Brooks? The Nets would jump all over that. We're already thin on the 1 and you want us to trade away our primary backup for nothing?

I didn't think he had good defense. He penetrates though, good, I'd like to see a bit more of him next game.

For those wondering, the Rockets won't sign Deke before the season starts. They MIGHT sign Deke midseason, however, if they can clear some lux cap space before the trade deadline.

Mike Harris, Von Wafer and Strawberry are all much cheaper than Deke and I think the Rockets would like to take a closer look at some of these guys.

Before last night, Wafer is the least likely guy to get signed but if he keeps playing well ... I gotta think that they'd love to keep Harris for what he brings but he's only getting off the bench for injuries.

I'm pretty sure we will get him back. We'll probably trade Head for a pick, or perhaps trade multiple players to get a better backup PG.

Primary backup? That hasn't been determined yet. It's essentially Brooks+Hayes/Head for Williams. The TE makes the trade scenario possible salary-wise. IBrooks, Head, or Hayes alone isn't enough for Sean Williams he's still a promising 17th pick.

Wafer gave us false hope with his play in the first half. As the game wore on, you could see more and more of his weaknesses. His defense is not good at all and his shooting is also bad. I know he's still very young, but look at his career stats. Kirk is a good comparison for Wafer ironically, but Snyder's a much better defender and even shooter.

Does Wafer have 3pt range? Looked like most of the jumpers he settled for / made were 19-20ft range. He does have a high release and was able to shoot off the dribble, both things Head can not do.

I liked what I've seen, but I think he'll be cut to make the numbers work. We really need to trade/replace Head though. His best asset right now seems to be cutting.

I was surprised that he's black. With a name like Von Wafer, I was expecting a white dude with a monocle or something.

Yet another Kirk Snyder connection, white sounding name on a black player.

I have yet to catch either of the games nor did I follow any of the summer league/training camp action.

So let me get this straight. This person's full name is Von Wafer, as in first name 'Von', last name 'Wafer'...?

In this one game, he looked better than Luther. If that lasted all pre-season I would try and trade Luther and would pick Wafer over Harris (we already have 5 undersized pf's available), but that is a big IF. Wafer seemed to disappear in the 2nd half and just hang around the perimeter, whereas, Luther played terrible, but was still very active.

It's just preseason and we are talking about the end of our bench, unless Head really steps up, so it really isn't very important.

I do think we need another big Center badly. If Yao gets in foul trouble, big teams like San Antonio or Phoenix are going to kill us inside. We saw that against Memphis as well. Hayes, Landry, Scola, and Dorsey will do well against most teams, but will really struggle against 7 footers. Bringing Deke back or trading Luther and Francis for a legit backup C is the most important thing we can do to tweek the roster.

Watch a few more games before you guys decide on him, because his career totals are like Luther Head vs Utah, except YEAR ROUND.

I wouldn't mind trading Head for some size, but not because I think Wafer will make the rotation, but rather, I trust Brooks will step up.
