There are rumors going around that Von Wafer might soon be leaving Olympiakos.

According to contra.gr, the former NBA star has not managed to adjust to the European style of basketball and it is possible that his contract with Olympiakos will soon end. The article says that there will be contacts between the administration of Olympiakos and the player's agent to see what will happen of Von Wafer.

His current contract sums up to 1.8 million dollars per season according to the article and it is possible that Wafer will ask for the entire season's salary as compensation. He is not in the plans of coach Yannakis but there wasn't any mention of a possible replacement. Things will become clearer in the next few days.

    SIGN WAFER!!!!

What happened to the $5 million/year I kept hearing about? That was the sole reason he chose Europe.

    $10 million / 2 years -

Because European contracts are announced as way bigger than they actually are by player agents, in reality they are much smaller - provided the players even get paid at all. Barnyard ball, in years of poor harvests, simply can't support huge contracts like that.

They aren't guaranteed either, I'd be surprised if Wafer got anything.

If Childress, Wafer, Trajan Langdon ect... read this post before they up and jet to Europe, they wouldn't had gotten off their couch.

Do you have any links to verify this? Sounds like you're stretching when you say "provided the players even get paid at all". I don't see guys with large announced contracts like Nachbar and Childress running back to the NBA?

Brandon Jennings was having problems last year getting paid. I think there are some articles on that.

I hate to say I told you so Wafer fans.

The writing has been on the wall that Wafer hasn't adjusted well a has fallen off in Europe.

This looks like a Mike James situation too me. DO NOT WANT.

Nachbar left his Russian team because he wasn't getting paid.

The same happened to Delfino, Pargo and Krstic, who all ran back here on the first plane.

    I did find this--

Makes me think European teams hold out on paying their foreign players the majority of their salary until the season is over for leverage (and motivation).

Von jumped the gun big time in going to Europe. He should have stayed put.

If they had bona fide offers in the NBA they wouldn't have gotten on that plane!
