I've been working on applying to business schools and now I'm finally done and have time to play video games for the first time in like 6 months. I put in Assassin's Creed which I've had since Christmas for the first time this weekend and it's been fun, but I have ~100 bucks for trade ins at EB games and I want to buy something else. So what do you people suggest? EDIT: I have a wii and a 360.

--Guitar hero? Everyone seems to love it and there's even a thread on it, but I'm hesitant to buy a bunch of equipment if I'm not going to be using it all the time.

--I was thinking about buying Resident Evil, umbrella chronicles for my Wii, and get 2 zappers so I can play with my girlfriend. But again, it's equipment, and I don't know how good that game is.

Any suggestions? Maybe there are new xbox 360 games I have missed? I've seen COD4, but I don't really like shooters.

What systems do you have besides Wii:

    For Wii:
    Mario Galaxy
Guitar Hero would be one you could play with others. It is pretty fun and you will be playing it a while. the equipment should be good for future games in the series too.

No shooters huh? That's rough. Virtual Fighter 5 is a really intricate and beautiful fighter and you can get online on the 360 version. Get it and be the luchodore. You can do a hurricanrada off the walls.

The only fighting game I really liked was Tekken. I played on my roommate's PS2 in college A LOT. That game was awesome. Over Christmas my family went to disney world and I was tired of walking so I went to the arcade and played the newest tekken (5 I believe) and I could still beat the game with 1 credit. Too bad I don't think they're planning on making one for the xbox I would buy that on nostalgia alone.

I find that as I've grown older my patience for video games has faded a little bit so I can't do the story driven ones as well anymore. I remember in college I used to play through games like Prince of Persia, Ninja Gaiden, Vice City / San Andreas, etc... Now I find it a little more difficult to be absorbed in a plot. Plus I generally have less time to sit down for 2 hours and advance the plot in a game. The last game I played through was Oblivion, and basically none since. Recently I've resorted more to cheap, short thrills like playing FIBA mode on Live 2008 and trying to get 30 points a game with Wang Shipeng... Takes about 30-45 minutes, but it's a reasonable diversion. I'm looking forward to the next GTA, and maybe Mercenaries II (I really liked the first one), but again I really question whether I can sit down to finish a game like that anymore.

I have heard really good things about Umbrella Chronicles - I think that's going to be my next purchase for the Wii.

You didn't mention whether or not you have a PS3, but a couple of games that are non-fps's you might like are Heavenly Sword (one of the weirdest, most oddball games I have played, with some parts really great and some parts just head-scratchingly bizarre), and Ratchet and Clank: Future. I have only played the demo of R&C:F, but it has to be one of the smoothest, most gorgeously-rendered video games I have ever seen. It shows off what you can do with a system if you really set your mind to doing a quality job.

On the 360, you might enjoy Stuntman: Ignition. It really is a blast to do all this maniacal roaring through these different levels in whatever kind of vehicle it places you in, do the best job you can, and then you get to sit back and watch what you just did in a really good rendition of a fully edited and produced action movie. Tons of fun. And it's less $ now too, I believe.

My hangup about buying RE: UC is the necessity to buy two of those zapper thingies. I've also not played it in person. I bought RE4 for wii... the graphics were not so good, and I ended up only playing it for like 50 minutes and it hasn't seen the light of day since. I didn't like the aspect of having to move around, but I hear that on UC it's more like a classic arcade shooter where it moves around for you is that right?

I have a 360 sorry I didn't make that clear. I've seen trailers for Heavenly Sword and wow the graphics look awesome, but I don't know if they are from cutscenes or not. In any case I would have most certainly bought it if I had a PS3 but alas I do not. I'll look into the stuntman game.

yeah...its a shooter on rails. I dont get why you need 2 zappers...unless you want 2 player, but thats an option and not a necessity. RE4 looked better than it did on the other systems, plus the controls helped a bunch with the aiming.

For the wii: Try elebits...you can probably get it cheap. Mario Galaxy is awesome. Also, the metroid was suppose to be great.

bioshock although its fps it seems a little different

Well, I'd love to help, but pretty much all my suggestions are either for PS2, or they're shooters for the 360.

If you're up for buying a PS2 ($130 brand new, or $80-$90 for a refurbished one), then I have many suggestions. :) Check out my posts below from a previous thread:

if you're not sure whether you'll love a game or not, rent first. worst thing you could do is purchase games you'll not like and selling it back to gamestop for a fraction of what you've paid.
