I don't really post that often, but I really feel that the Rockets need to take this into consideration. It is really necessary for the Rockets to give the player of each game a $50 gift certificate for a steak dinner? I understand that players deserve to be commended when they have a great game, but they should be able to afford their own meals. My suggestion would be to either donate the $50 on behalf of the players to a nonprofit organization or to purchase a meal for a family more deserving. Just a thought.
Thats exactly what i thought, especially when Manu Ginoblli is getting it...he really gets on my nerves.
Its funney becuase i allways think what they do w/ them probably laff and throw them away haha. Come on whats 50 bux to som1 who probably gets free food when hes on the road & gets paid millions and millions of dollars!?!?!?!
Well I don't know for certain, but I assume the Rockets don't purchase the gift certificate... it is probably given to them as part of advertisment.. the restaurant gets their name on the air by giving them the gift... tim can confirm or deny this...
It's just really sad to see people who can't afford to buy some bread getting overlooked for someone who has more money than they can spend in a lifetime.
this and the money given to the competing players on all star weekend. seriously, do any of those point guards care or deserve to get $12,000?
And what about this Brake Check "Fast Break" promotion? That's just idiotic. The season's 2/3 over and they're on the line for what, $1000 or so? I never understood companies that tie charitable donations with performance by the home team (or the teams that allow it). If you've got the money to give to the sick kids, then GIVE it to them, for Chrissakes. Don't dangle it above their heads. The team should reward such donations with on-air mentions of the company. The more you donate, the more Calvin says your company's name. But performance-based? That's tacky.
and not to be critical on calvin, but he plugs his overpriced ($500 a kid) basketball camp that does nothing to help the community. i just do not understand the way certain people, companies and organizations can exploit there popularity and position to fill their pockets with even more money. they should be giving back more than they do! there are definitely many players that donate a substantial amount to different needy organizations, but most do not. its sad to say but i think the love of money is much greater than the love of your fellow man.
I dunno. I bet they do use the coupons. A lot of these rich NBA players are thriftier than you might think. Scottie Pippen leaves pathetic tips (although that could just be because he is an a$$hole) and Michael Jordan has been known to be tight with his cash.
