Apparently the Wall Street Journal believes an iPhone is coming to Verizon?

I would be stunned if apple did this. It's down right asinine. With 4g coming out soon, why would they go and develop hardware that will only be relevant for so short? I know Steve Jobs likes to bleed his customers cash as much as he can, but that would be straight up redonkulous. We'll see what happens.

    Lock if already posted.

I don't see it happening... at least not until I see some proof or a sign that they are headed that way.

You know LTE and Wimax does not have a voice specification. So any 4G phone will be dual mode which means it will either support GSM or CDMA for voice also.

True very true, it's just that according to the article the Verizon phone won't reach production until September which means it won't hit consumers till next summer. By next summer, what would be the incentive of buying a 3g phone when 4g phones are months away. All in all, the 4g factor puts a wrench into the timing factor that WSJ projects, or so I'd see it that way...

WSJ has been rumoring this since last May, and I've been asked about it since....

Ill believe it when I see it...

Plus being surpised that Apple milking money from people? Really? The original iPhone came out when 3G already existed, but milked that until the 3G and eventually the 3Gs.

What are you talking about? This is just news that they are releasing an iphone for Verizon that's the exact same as the one they would be releasing for ATandT. How is giving customers more of a choice bleeding them?

Kind of what I was wondering. Don't cell phones usually last a year or two before the next latest-and-greatest thing is out anyway?

If Verizon gets an iPhone now, does this mean it won't work in a year or something?

    I don't get it.

All phone lines release updates. Every phone I got before the iphone had a higher model released less than a year after I bought it. Smart phones just get more attention.

Well, yeah....which is why I'm confused as to why anyone would be surprised or accuse Apple of bleeding money out of people. They (potentially) are releasing a phone that will be updated roughly a year from then....same as every other phone.

VZW and Sprint are not the only CDMA carriers in the world. I don't think VZW is in too big of a hurry to get the iPhone.

To repeat what many have said for a while, most everyone that was going to switch to AT&T because of the iPhone has already done so. A Verizon iPhone could explode the iPhone's market share in the U.S. I see no downside in the move for Apple. They rode the AT&T train as far as it could take them. If you really believe people waiting on 4G would blunt the success of the launching the iPhone on Verizon this year, I think you are mistaken.

I'll watch the show while sticking with Blackberry for at least a couple more years.

Just so it's clear, this isn't real. Put together by fans based on highly unconfirmed rumors. Mac rumors posted this today though:
