    Seriously?

The problem plaguing my whole single life is finding a great girl to begin with..

we should trade lives.. that way I can run into and seize the moment of all these opportunities with great girls you seem to've run into your whole single life.. and you won't have to worry about wussing out or feel regret.. :p :( :)

I suppose I can't say much that hasn't already been said: just ask. Believe it or not, it does get easier with practice. Heck, asking girls out and getting their numbers is so routine for me now that I almost do it without meaning to sometimes these days. Just engage her in some light conversation, find a little common ground, get her to laugh a few times, ask if she wants to grab coffee sometime, then ask for her number just in case you need to change plans or something. Easy. Disgustingly easy. It's easier to have a new date every weekend than you might think. Or maybe even two or three.

That's the easy part. The hard part is being able to tell if she's actually a nice girl, or if she's just an evil, selfish, bisexual succubus disguised as a nice girl. I've still got a lot to learn about that part, clearly...

It would even be cooler if wreck learned to walk like Yoda but that could be hard to imitate the walk of a puppet, you know?

I have been waiting for someone to use the word "succubus" in a conversation - thank you! :p :D ;)

Seriously though...confidence, confidence, confidence! You don't want to come across as a cocky ******* but women love guys who are confident. It's easy to say but hard to do sometimes.

The man knows of what he speaks. Thank you. I used to do that stuff all the time eons ago, and it was always easy, although "grabbing some coffee" wasn't the line I used. There were other things we hippies liked to do back then that worked just as well. ;)

And you're also right about telling if the chick is cool or not. Sure, sometimes it's blatantly obvious that she is, but you never know for sure without serious exploration. That, of course, can be a lot of fun.

That's my problem also. It happens way, way to often.

People tell me I have nothing to lose in approaching a girl, but the thing is if she rejects me and I have to see her on a daily basis like at work or gym, it would feel awkward. That is kinda my line of thinking in situations where I don't speak up and approach the girl.

I don't know what type of internal logic I can use to convince myself to get over this and ask the girl out if I am interested. Suggestions?

    You're welcome... I'm here to serve. :p

    Word.

If you're all nervous about it, she'll think "oh no, he's desperate... he's hanging his every hope on a date with me... there must be something wrong with him." Basically, she'll figure you're not a hot commodity. Your market value is low, if you will.

If you're cool and calm, she's thinkin' "wow, this guy must have options if he thinks asking a hottie like me out is no big deal... I should get in on this action before he's taken!" Your being calm about it makes it seem more to her like you're in high demand.

What does this mean? You want him to ask her if she's tested negative for Diptheria and Herpes Virus?

By the way, back in the 80's I do remember several conversations about testing and past partners during that tentative time when you leave the batter's box and you're not sure if it's just a base hit or a home run. Luckily, all of my hits managed to just clear the fence. (I never had a lot of desire to swing at wild pitches... always waited for one that was in my wheelhouse.)

Oh, definitely. It all comes back to the confidence thing I just posted about.

If you're all nervous and making a big deal about it and whatnot when you ask her and get rejected, then THAT's awkward. She's gonna think you're some desperate guy who's madly in love with her all the time.

But if you're cool and confident when you ask her out and get rejected, and you stay nice and calm and play it off when she does say no (maybe say "that's cool, I kinda had a lot of work to get done this weekend anyhow", anything that makes it sound like no big deal to you), then it's not awkward because she doesn't feel like you were hanging all your hopes on her; like she in particular is not a huge deal to you.

...and if she only rejected you because she's got a boyfriend, she's FAR more likely to give you strong consideration after a breakup if you acted cool and collected in your initial approach.

In summary: yes, there IS something to lose if you act desperate when asking her. But there isn't if you stay confident.

Wait... "dating," as in present tense? As in you're still dating her?

    Why?

I kinda have a different problem...

Sunday the 3 pm football game was lame so a buddy and I went to the local sports bar so we could watch multiple games.

Well there was this cute chick there wearing a Brian Urlacker jersey and I started talking to her about the Cowboys/Bears game that evening.

We talked off and on through out the 3 pm games. As I was getting ready to head home to watch the Cowboys game in my back yard on my projection screen from the comfort of my Pool and drink my free booze i stopped to say bye.

She tried to get me to stay to watch the game with her so she could rub it in when the Bears won but I had to get home because I had some ribs on the grill (and I had already set up the screen and hooked up the projector). She then suggested we at least make a bet and I accepted. She offered me the 3 points but I told her I'd take the Cowboys straight up for a couple rounds of drinks the following Sunday. She raised the bet to dInner and drinks and we shook hands to seal the deal.

Well I won the bet... and I HAVE to go to the bar this Sunday otherwise I can't watch the Texans AND the Cowboys since they both play at noon and I don't have the NFL Sunday ticket.

Guess at some point I need to find out if she dates married guys.  :D

Because she is fun, we get along good for the most part, she's HOT, the bi-sexual thing is ok even tho I just found out about it, shes sweet and nice most of the time, but she has that evil streak in her and it pisses me off. We have been together for 6 months. She has a ton of traits that I really love, but a few that I just cannot stand. I'm probably ending it soon.

what if you just want to have sex with the new 19 year old receptionist? she's a cutie and she's been laying it on pretty thick since she started 2 weeks ago.

RM95. I seriously doubt she called the mom, if she were interested... she would have called you. Don't you think? I doubt she did a background check on you at this point.
