You hit the nail right on the head, Toast!

Vescey's attitude would be completely different if NY had a realistic shot at landing Webber. I mean, NY still has a shot, but it's going to be hard.

Rocket River, Vescey is a tabloid sports writer?! Man, I never thought of it that way, that is as accurate a description of Petey that I've ever read!

I don't think there is anyone else associated with the NBA that I despise more than Vecsey.....well, with the possible exception of Bill Kennedy. Ahh, just throw in all the referees.

Has anyone ever wondered why TNT never has Barkley and Vecsey in the studio on the same nights???

the rockets are not that far from being two or three in the west. if they did not change there team at all they would be five to ten games better any way with the upside of sf and cm and beleave it or not MO TALOR, they need one or two playes and they will be able to give anyone a run for there money.I have watched Cweb since the big M days and he has a lot of talent but he dose not want to take one for the team the guy from vancouver sher 20,10 guy blocks shots he handles the ball and he can play the 3 and sometimes the 4 and he shuts his mouth and plays he can come in H-Town without having to be the man uless they need him two.

The "rose-colored" rant chimes in again.

Steve already said he will be the team's vocal leader. He and Cat have enough fire to light everyone's ass on the team. (So to speak.) So what's the problem? (Besides the fact that NBA superstars make too much money [but how do you get around that]?)

So now we fill in a giant hole on the team that can give us 20(+) and 10, and even 4 or 5 assists. This "Webber groupie" (quoting one of your older diatribes) sees through his "rose-colored glasses" a team that will put up a hell of a fight because the players will be thrilled to be together. The Rockets will be a contender and will even earn some national TV time.

Mo and Marc Jackson isn't a bad fall-back plan, but we have a good shot at Webber, and if we get him, then I say some things are meant to happen.

    1. For every good J-Will pass . . .their is an errant pass or a Jacked up 3 attempt

    2. Is Webber the answer AT THE 4 SPOT? Yes

    3. With 10 second on the clock . . down by one
WHO REALLY REALLY THINKS THE BALL WILL BE IN WEBBER'S HANDS?
Webber or Not. . the ball will be Cuttino/Francis's/Moochie's hands.

So the CLUTCH factor is no necessarily a big deal to me. We have clutch players ALREADY.

People who raggin on Webber not clutch . . .
I look at the numbers he put up in this series
    I'm not too upset . . . why u may ask

Because I think OUR supportin Cast is better
    than what SAC had.

I think Cuttino will make Kobe work more
on the offense side of the ball . .and be only
slightly less affective on the defensive end
    than Christy was

I think Fisher would have a bigger problem
with FRANCHISE than he did with J-will and Bobby

Small Forward. . Walt vs Fox [whateva]

At Center: Cato + Collier . . .they'd probably do as bad as Vlade and Pollard.
[Except I don't think collier will have Shaq
on his back like pollard did on that nasty dunk]

    Rocket River
I still say it will be a SIGN AND TRADE
so all out Cap money will not be gone

Well no wonder he said the Rockets would get C-Webb.

    He thinks that Webber sucks.

No doubt about it, Peter Vecsey's real name is Lucifer.

His extremely talented team got swept in the playoffs.

    4-0.

I'd say that was a waste.

Of course, that could just be the crack talking.

    What extremely talented team?

BTW, weren't we supposed to be having this conversation after the Suns got to Round 2?

Damn, Gascon, did you put $$$ down on the Kings to win it all? You're like a dog with a bone.

WEBBER WANTED OUT OF THERE. He won't have that problem in Houston.

First off, I'll go ahead and say that I'm for getting Webber--the Rockets have got to get somebody in the low post to take pressure off our guards. When Hakeem wasn't scoring, we basically have nobody up front. So getting Webber would be a big step in balancing out the team. But, as with anything, I've got some concerns:

    My main worry...

1 I thought Webber really disappointed in the series against LA. Say what you will, but he didn't step up. Before this series I thought he was closer to being a Duncan type player--one that you goto in crunch time and you expect him to come thru. After seeing that series, I would still expect Cat/Stevie to get the ball at the end of games, which isn't all bad, but its nice to have a big man (Shaq/Duncan/Malone) to give the ball to in crunch time. I know, guys like this aren't available, thats why I'm saying take CWeb. Still, makes me worry...

    2. The Rockets have made some kinda Big personnel mistakes recently. Granted, everybody makes mistakes, but in the back of my mind I can't help but think of:
    Cato-busto
    Sucky Pippen-bust
    Brent Price-bust
Maloney-same (didn't we sign him to a 3 year deal and then cut him? could be wrong)

    3. Webbers supporting cast in Sac wasn't bad at all in my opinion, compared with the Rockets. Stojacovich is good (and young) and getting better. Their guard combo isn't all that bad, and their center combo is better than most. Simply adding Webber to our current roster would definitely make us a playoff team, but I don't see us getting out of the second round--we've got a glaring hole at the 3 (Walt stinks) and IF we cant get both Webber & Hakeem back, we're stuck with El Stinko at center who plain sucks and has a terrible attitude and strong aversion to playing time.

Finally, someone said that Cat/Francis would be able to light a fire under the tails of Webber should he play for us. Maybe yes, but they sure haven't been able to do a thing with Cato. I'm not saying that Webbers attitude will be anything like Cato's, I'm just saying we can't count on someone else convincing him to play his hardest, he's got to have that in him.

Oh yeah, remember I am FOR getting Webber, but those are my concerns. For me, there's nothing ever certain, so I try to look at the GOOD and the BAD.

    -bash if you like.

I think your concerns are legit. It will be hard for the Rockets to win the championship with Webber. I consider him a shade under Duncan in terms of skills. The Lakers and Spurs are better than the Rockets if we do get C-Webb.
Boy, does that Cato signing look bad now.
