I'm not sure if this was ever mentioned before but did anyone catch Van Gundy diss Fratello the TNT analyst (I think this is the guy) when he offered him a handshake last night at the game???? Was that just a joke between Van Gundy and him or are the really not in good terms? Can someone fill me in if there is bad blood btw the two guys?? What was their relationship like when Van Gundy worked for TNT?????????????????

I think they were just playing. They always joked around last year, and at least i'm not aware of any feuds between them.

Probably just joking around, but there they were definitely both itching to get back into coaching, and Van Gundy beat Fratello to the punch for several coaching jobs.

Van Gundy turned down offers from New Orleans, Cleveland and Washington among others to coach Yao and Francis, whereas Fratello couldn't get a coaching job this year behind guys like Kevin O'Neill, Tim Floyd, etc.

I'm glad we got our man VG.

Yea, they are just playing around and when they had the first preseason game, they welcomed Steve Kerr and told him to not to do any rookie mistakes as a commentator and showed a bad view of Van Gundy with his hair all messed up, funny stuff.

Are you sure they were just joking around? When they showed the video clip of Van Gundy shaking one guys hand but not Fratello's, Marv Albert said something about there being tension between the two. And then a few seconds later Fratello says something to the affect of, 'I would think he is professional about it and would overlook it the past'. I didn't hear all of it but I always have closed-caption on so I read it.
    Not sure if I misunderstood.

they were playing funny music in the background so you would know the whole thing was a setup.

Yeah, I heard that too, that's probably why i thought it was more serious because of what Fratello said so I kind of waited for him to comment about it during the game but he never mentioned anything further......
