Speaking of Williams, I still pronounce his name like daRon. Is anyone else resisting the switch to the Darren pronunciation?

Boozer's always been a stud, and Deron Williams looks like a really effective and intelligent point guard. I'm not surprised Sloan and the Jazz are winning, and winning against tough teams. The question for them is consistency...whether or not they can pull out this high quality of play over a prolonged period of time. I typically hate the Jazz, but I'm really tired of the old reign of the West's Top Dogs (ie Spurs, Mavs, Suns). I mean, it gets kinda boring watching the same old same old, so thta's why if it's gonna be the Suns vs Jazz or the Clips vs Mavs, I'm always rooting now for the "underdog".

i get to watch lots of local coverage on the jazz just cause i live here.

just remember last year when the jazz started off super hot? like beating the mavs, etc?

don't put too much stock into it yet...

i do think they'll make the playoffs and derek fisher was a HUGE steal, but the jazz still don't have a "go-to" guy for the end of games. their best player is ak47 and he is better on defense.

they are an oversized team... and they have depth too. but they don't have a true center. all the rockets really need to do is expose that weakness. and in that first game... all the team looked timid expect for yao and tmac-AND THEY DIDN'T HAVE BONZI.

in the dallas game, houston looked aggresive... THATS THE DIFFERENCE

The difference for Jazz this year though is that Williams is much improved, Boozer is finally healthy, and Jazz got better by acuquiring Fisher, Miles, etc. I think they are going to make the playoff. What remains to be seen is whether they can sustain injuries and play consistently. That holds true for the new forces in the league including us.

uhhh if the jazz keep playing like this... and with the schedual they have they can really start making noise and people WILL respect them. detroit and new jersey, if they win those then they have boston which is a gimme, then the clippers I think. if they keep winning dang... it's gonna be a long season for the rest of that division.

williams is taking WAY TOO MANY shots
that is unacceptable when u have three of the best front court players in the league (AK, Boozer, Okur).

Is that how the Utah announcers are saying it, "Darren?"
I call him by "daRon" it's how they been saying it.. Maybe it'll be like how Akeem changed into Hakeem

Anywho, that boy Deron is pretty good. I'd trade JHo and JL3 for him.

I just moved from SLC and everyone there including the j*zz announcers says Darren not DaRon.

Well they say that and that that damn shot in '97 is the single greatest shot ever made...

We've said this for the last 3-4 years early in the season then they fade by the midwinter and are an afterthought each spring. Is Derron Williams really different from Carlos Arroyo or Maurice Williams?

I think it has to do with the fact that the Jazz are such a "system" team that it takes them less time to get comfortable in it than other teams/players, some of whom use October/November to just play their way into shape.

They are for real. But I dont see them go far in the playoff. We are still better as a complete team. Time will tell.
