Simms overall win loss record is a good bit better than Applewhites. Major made just as many stupid mistakes, played just as well or better at times. At least Simms beats the teams he's supposed to. Major dropped the ball on many occasions and I watched from my seat and cheered him on because he played for the University of Texas. I cannot see how you call yourself a fan when you think your quarterback sucks. Go root for Texas Tech, Kingsbury will rack up the yards for you. I'll take Simms and his win-loss record any day. Ya'll sound like the chumps over in the Rockets forum claiming that Francis sucks. Get your f***ing heads out of the ground and cheer or go home. How's it go fellas? Come late, b**** a bunch, go home unhappy even though we won, hate your quaterback, but wear orange to show your deep loyalty? Ya'll probably haven't been a fan of UT when they have trouble being ranked. Enjoy the fair weather!
A variation on that theme: How many Texas students does it take to change a lightbulb? Four. One to change the bulb....one to talk about how much better the bulbs were when Darryl Royal was there...and 2 to leave at halftime.
What does the 2 leaving at halftime have to do with the lightbulb? Did they help change it or not? Were they just watching? Are you saying it took them 2 quarters to change the lightbulb? Also, is the light bulb at DKR? I don't see the relevance of two fans leaving at halftime in relation to the light bulb?
I'm relaxed. Most of these light bulb jokes seem to make sense. Yours didn't, imo. I just needed an explanation.
When I was in college...students at Texas were notorious for leaving the ballgame at halftime. Those jokes are all methphors. Just like this one: How many Aggies does it take to change a lightbulb? Three...one to hold the bulb....one to spin the lamp...and one to lead the 12th Man in "Change the hell outta the lightbulb!!!!!"
I'm sure Young has one of the best arms in the world along with being one of the fastest football players in the world.
I'm willing to bet otherwise. Michael Vick is just like the other Michael. There's always a next, but the next isn't always as good.
How many mvps/championships has Vick won? There is no "the next Vick" right now. McNabb is the measuring stick among run/throw quarterbacks.
And like I said earlier, you'd be an idiot to do so since you've never seen the guy play. Here's some threads for you. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25310 http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27477
I'm not comparing what Vick has done in the pros. I'm comparing how Vick almost singlehandedly brought up a program to become a national power.
I like the last post in the first link, and the one in the 2nd that says "6'5" 200. 4.5 (machine timed), as modest as can be. Bad mechanics. His team was picked 3rd in the district but ended up 14-1. He would embarass Simms in anything except a long distance toss." Once again, from those links, he is not another Michael Vick, his physical tools are still not of Vick's level.
Umm, did you read the post that said he was consistently throwing 65 yards off of his back foot? That seems like a pretty strong arm. Also, his official 40 from what I've read was 4.4. It's slightly less than Vick, but it's still pretty damn fast, and he's bigger than MV with at least the same arm strength if not more. I'd prefer the bigger quarterback with the same or more arm strength to the smaller quarterback that's a tad quicker. And, as you can see, Vick's running against two good defenses (the last two weeks) has been virtually non-existent.
aaaaaand I'm not talking about what he's doing in the pros. But if you want to comment on the past two games....he is currently 20-30 226 yards with a TD in this game against the Steelers, keeping them relatively close eventhough the defense isn't playing worth a ****, without Duckett. Oh, and last game his team won, including a final push to get his team into position for a winning FG.
Compare Vick and Young at similar ages, and Young is equal to, if not more advanced than Vick. Vick wasn't even the best QB in his high school conference/district, Ronald Curry was. Young was hands down the #1 player in the nation his Sr year. The only way I see Young being below Vick, is because of Greg Davis. At least, Young has redshirted this season though.
Game update: Vick dances 11 yards, game tied. He's that damn good. And I agree about Young>Vick at similar ages BY SCOUTS, but Vick still had the same physical tools. Part of that is Curry went to a big-time HS and Vick was overlooked.
