My wife works as a Special Procedures Radiologic Technologist. Yesterday, they had a guy on the table with a horribly fractured ankle. He was of Middle Eastern origin.

During the whole procedure, he was murmuring rhythmically-- like a chant or prayer-- in a foreign tongue.

He was almost completely non-responsive to my wife's inquiries and instructions-- avoiding eye contact and just generally being non-responsive.

When the procedure was over, he mumbled incoherently about being Usama bin Laden's "son" and then something about "owning Brazil."

I am of the mind that this guy should be reported to the FBI. Who knows how many sleeper cells might be out there, no make that HERE. What do you all think?

Would such reporting be an abrogation of his civil rights (even though he's probably not a US citizen)?

just reporting it is nowhere in the vicinity of being a civil rights violation.

If someone told me they are Osama's son - I am probably gonna drop kick them. Then call the Cops/FBI.

Is there any kind of doctor-patient privilege?

That may be a problem in her mind. I shall press the matter. I've thought about calling in an anonymous tip. How exciting-- just like on TV!

My guess would be that it would only apply to their medical condition.

However, one example would be, if a child was brought in for medical treatment & the doctor suspected child abuse, I believe they would, by law, have to report it to the authorities.

    Giddyup,

If it's possible that he could be Bin Laden's son, then I would think it would be in the countries national interest that she report him. If it could lead to the capture & end of Bin Laden & the al-Qaida network, think of the lives that would be saved. Just because she reports what she heard, doesn't mean that they'll go drag him out of his home without investigating it first. Or, I hope not anyway.

However, if that's not enough reason to do it, then how about this reason? Bin Laden has a $25 million bounty on his head. Screw his civil rights. :D Just kidding. Here's a link to the FBI. At the top right, is a link for reporting tips & leads to them. If you get the reward, how about throwing me an encouragement fee? ;)

I don't think the guy IS bin Laden's son except, perhaps, in some metaphorical sense.

I readily believe that he could be part of some cell who while anguishing in pain and/or loosened with meds did let something slip.

I am going to encourage her to report him. We could use the $25 Million. I'd buy Clutch a new server-- if he wants or needs one! If it works out for us, I'll remember you man; keep those trade scenarios coming....

Report him, at the very least if it is not his son, it will teach the kid to shut up.

Bin-Laden has a huge family because his dad had like 15 wives (i dont know if this is true of him too) and the rest of his family loves America and has cut off all ties to him. Most of them live in Chicago and they give money to universities and I think they also own property near Houston.

quote "During the whole procedure, he was murmuring rhythmically-- like a chant or prayer-- in a foreign tongue. "

Ease up mate. The poor b*stard was probably mutterring "fark my face hurts...arghhhhhhh more stitches" :D

Honestly, if a son of Bin Laden was in the USA and dangerous, do you honestly think the FBI wouldn't be aware of it...?

Like I said, I don't think he is Usama's son in a literal sense, but perhaps a metaphorical sense. You would really have to hear my wife's telling to get a sense of how weird his response pattern was-- very unusual. She does this every day for a living, remember?

yeah...and don't you think if a whole team of terrorists trained in monitored Al Qaeda camps were here in the US training for months to be pilots so they could fly planes into the WTC and were actually stopped at the airport...if all that happened..don't you think the FBI would know it???

ummmm..i think we just might be giving the FBI a little too much credit, unfortunately.

We probably have done a pretty good job of keeping new terrorists from entering the US since 9/12, but who knows how many were already here?
