Team USA hitting their straps heading into the finals? In any case they've blown Angola out of the water.

This lopsided victory allows Team USA to face the #2 seed from Group A which is Argentina. A lower margin of victory might have pitted them against Spain.

I would've preferred Spain -- I'd have more faith in the US stopping Gasol w/Duncan & Odom & co. rather than the swiss cheese perimeter D of Marbury & co. trying to stop Ginobli.

The silver lining is the Argentina is among the worst shooting 3 point squads as well -- just 29% (US is the worst with 23%).

I think both squads are pretty talented. Argentina plays a game similar to Team USA. Argentina can cause turnovers. Ginobli is one of the best in the NBA at finishing off break with those turnovers. I think it will be one of the most entertaining games in the Olympics due to the similarity in styles.

The Greece Puerto Rico game can change the standings for the quarterfinals, the US gets 3rd if Greece loses? So they play against Argentina if they get 3rd? Spain if they're 4th?

Never mind... This is how it is...

If Greece wins, the Americans will be fourth out of their pool and will open against unbeaten Spain. Should Puerto Rico win, Team USA will be third, opening against either Argentina or Italy.

If they do play Argentina, the matchup to watch is going to be Richard Jefferson against Ginobli. Both guys are supremely confident in their abilities, so that will be a battle.

Is Angola the country Charles used to joke about saying how he doesn't know what country angola is back in the golden age?

I would so love it if Jefferson locked him down. He has had two good games in a row to atone for his egregious start.

something tells me if we face argentina or spain that despite their poor 3 point shooting they'll still light it up against us. Angola was the first team that actually seemed to miss a 3 once in a while against us. we haven't been playing all world D but it is nice to see someone miss a few times.

HA! Puerto Rico is losing big time on purpose so they will finish 3 to face Italy and the US finises last to face Spain.

Yao Ming had a big game and Team USA advanced to the medal rounds. What a day! :D
