Damn right that's sick. Spreewell was a locker room cancer because he could not feed his family in Minnesota on the 10 plus million a year they offered him in a contract extension. What makes you think he will come here and spread good cheer on the 1.7 million dollar LLE.

Now that lineup is sick. Miles can play three positions and can gaurd 4. Sure would like to keep Sura somehow in this scenario.

RE: Miles.......not taking into account the length of his contract, his bad behavior in Portland, and lack of outside shot.......

Just the thought of a perimeter defense that consisted of Miles, Tmac and Swift? Long arms and speed! WOW! To me those three guys would cause all sorts of defensive disruption. Then you have Yao in the middle. That would be a very difficult lineup to score against.

That aside, I do like the idea of adding Stoudamire. I am iffy on Sprewell. I can see where that would work, but chemistry could be an issue so that is a concern.

I think it would be best to add Stoudamire either via the LLE or S&T for perhaps Wesley and then perhaps stand pat with that for the summer. Maybe move expiring deals/1st round pick at the Feb trading deadline for a younger swingman like Mo Peterson or Desmond Mason.

I don't understand all the angst over getting Miles. I will admit though, I don't know what his contract looks like.

What does this team need? Athleticism. That was proven to us in the playoffs. I would love to get Miles to be a sixth man and defensive stopper off the bench. I don't care if he can't shoot a three.

There is still a place for the spot up shooter on this team, but we have a bunch of those right now. We have added Head and Swift, a guy like Miles would really give us the athleticism we need to bring it all together, and he is still young enough that he fits well agewise with the nucleus.

I would really like to see a couple more moves this offseason. I would like to see us cut Moochie, Ward and Weatherspoon to open up roster spots. And I would like to see us sign former Bull Jason Williams and deal for Miles (trade Weatherspoon + TE + 2nd round pick for Miles and Mighty Mouse or something like that).

I really believe we want to continue to build around our core with guys that are a good fit age wise, even if sometimes we take a little bit of a risk to do that (ie miles or williams). If we want vets like Stoud to help us this year and next, that is fine too, but I am really viewing this team as having very real dynasty possibilities and my eye is on that prize.

It will be interesting to see how the Rockets proceed this offseason.

Because he is a selfish guy who is not a team player, and he basically got his coach fired. He is a bum in my eyes. No team should ever want him until his worthless attitude changes.

If Miles couldn't' handle Cheeks as his coach (who's a nice guy), then what makes anyone think he can handle JVG? Miles is also a racist (if you don't believe me, go back and read everything that he said to Cheeks during their exchange.)

What's the deal with DS? He's not that good, and he's short. If he was really that good, Portland wouldn't let him go for nothing.

Jason Williams (aka White Chocolate): yeah... not a good idea. Won't pass to Yao and will jack up 3's to frustrate T-Mac and eventually wear out his welcome.

Patterson: Past his prime. No longer the the self-proclaimed "Kobe Stopper."

I would like Bobby Jackson. I am sure the Kings would give him up Howard.. maybe a Songuila + Jackson for Howard deal could be had?

Why does everyone want to trade Mike James anyway? He's cheap. He's better than DS, JW, and he's opting out of his contract at the end of next season. So, expect a good year from him. We also have Spanoulis.

Plus, like I have suggested in the past, we could try a MJ for Arroyo and Delfino trade with Detroit, and I am sure Detroit wouldn't mind have MJ off the bench behind Chauncey.

That's because he shares their level of emotional maturity.

    I'd rather have Prince.

Sign and trade with Portland for Stoudamire and get Miles and then add Detroit into the mix and trade Miles for Prince. Likely won't happen, w/Dumars still running the show, but u never know w/ the new coach coming in.

What we really need is to start making some noise about bringing in Desmond Mason. I'd give them whatever they asked for minus T-Mac and Yao. (Obviosly the can't get Swift for like 60 days if and when he signs and Head who just signed as well.)

What did Jeff Mcinnis do to be banished to NBA limbo? He seems like a solid taller PG. Descent 3pt percentage, younger then DS. After he was benched Cleveland fell apart as a team. He seems to be an above average player at the PG position. No talk at all about him. I am kinda hoping that like last year we are going to sneak a a guy, like we did with Sura, and find a valuable role player... Mcinnis, Jay Williams are guys on that list for me.

Could we pay spree enough to feed his family?

I'm not crazy about that move, but if CD pulls off the rest, when you think about all the moves we made this last year, I'd have to say it would be a crime if he didn't get GM of the year this coming year.

I have rarely seen anyone shoot himself in the foot as badly as Spree did last year. At his age and with last year's play he will be lucky to get 1.7 from anyone. I don't want him anymore, but JVG might take him back into the womb.

"IT COULD HAPPEN" department. Do a SnT with Logo in Memphis for SS + Bonzi. Even tho' SAR is going to the Nets for the MLE, they are still trying to work out an SnT for him to pay him more money. In our case if would free up MLE to sign PG and SG. Better deal for us and Memphis. Credit to jopatmc for bringing it up in the thread starter.

Now that Kings traded Bobby Jackson to Memphis, Jason Williams (White Chocolate) is most likely available.

Somehow, I now believe that hs is Houston bound. Dont know for who, bu Memphis will definitely be dealing "White Chocolate" now.....

    Thoughs?

Im surprised nobody has mentioned Morris Peterson of the Raptors...

He fits exactly what he need. He's a big SG (6'7" 215), he can shoot the three (38%), he can backup T-Mac when we go to our second unit, and he is a really low key guy. I honestly dont know what his D is like, but he played for Tom Izzo @ MSU so I'm sure he is at least adequate.

He makes almost the same amount as Wesley so maybe we could swing a deal like Wesley + Spoon + Baker + 2nd round pick for MoPete + (whatever bad contract they want us to take back)

*I don't have any idea what the Raptors are trying to do, so I can't really come up with any compelling resons for them to do this, but it seems somewhat fair IMO. They get like $12mil or so in expiring contract and they can dump anyone but Rafer Alston on us

As for bringing in Darius Miles from Portland, I'm still not sure where I stand on that. As was stated earlier his game is Tayshaun Prince without the 3pt shot and personally I think he is a better ball handler, but that contract is tough to swallow...... (Well, I guess I just decided that I dont want him :p)

If we can sign Mighty Mouse and bring in MoPete I think we are set:

    DS/Sura
    MoPete/Barry/Head
    T-Mac/MoPete
    Swift/J.Ho
    Yao/Deke

    Trade Bait: Mike James, Ward

Thats an amazing Starting 5 and a nice bench. Most importantly, we have roster space to sign a guy like Jay Williams, or Lonny Baxter/Dion Glover

Actually, Mo Peterson's name has come up quite a bit in some threads. And I am a big fan of his and feel he is exactly the type of player the Rockets would love to add at the SG spot. And to answer your question about his D, it's really good, very good on the perimeter.

But it would be tough to get him. I dont want to take back a bad Raptor contract. That would mean either Rafer Alston or Alvin Williams. 2 players I want to stay away from. I would give up a 2006 1st round pick for Mo Pete though.

MoP is good, but I don't want to take on a horrible contract to get him. If we can can Damon Stoudamire, then he's definitely a perfect fit for us.

But is there any cheap way to get Greg Buckner? He'd be almost as good, but possibly cheaper? I know he's asking for the full MLE, which we don't have. Hopefully we could get him for cheaper. We could use a younger defensive specialist. He'll also get a lot more wide open threes here than he ever did in Denver and he already shoots 40% from there. Some think he's nothing more than backup, but I think he could be our Bruce Bowen.

I really think alot of teams are waiting to see who gets released with the amnesty. Guys like Jalen, Houston and Finley would all be a upgrade over wesley. Personally, If the rox were to get Damon, which I dont know why everyone wants, I would like to get a guy like Patterson. He's a very good rebounder for his position and tough as they come. This team needs a little toughness. He could play the 2 and bring barry back as the shhoter off the bench.
