He looked totally different with McGrady on the court, when he wasn't being asked to do so much. We know he is a good spot up shooter from his days in Miami. My only problem with Rafer is his terrible defense. I don't think we had James' bird rights, so we would have had to resign him with the MLE anyways. Getting Alston for nothing is pretty good IMO.
frahm made some shots, then like the rest of the rockets got injured and didnt play, he wont be back next year dikembe did not do too well this season, he had a broken finger, but besides that i think we shud start looking for a backup center after this season for sure alston is a good pg for the rockets, except that he misses way to many shots, hes a good passer and great at pushing the ball up the court, if only he cud get some shots to fall, we need a mix of alston and james....mike bibby! sura i think will probably try to come back and see how it is, i really dont have a clue swift showed some bright moments, but for the most part he was lazy, unmotivated, dumbfounded and inconsistant on the court, he made alot of dumb plays, and looked lost, and went on streches for games when he did nothing but foul, then had 1 good game, then had 3 bad ones....unless this changes there is no way he shud be considered a starting power forward for a team lookin to go all the way lampe dint even get garbage time, he got a few minutes here and there, nothing special..scrub....
if we had mike james we wud have won wat...1-3 mroe games...big whoop...if we dont get a better pg, alston is and will be a better suit for our team than mike james, we need james as a palyer to provide offensive spark off the bench, he doesnt want that, and so i think we shudnt want him, im fine with that trade, alston will help us more than james wud, personally i think we shud do everything in our power to try to get a mix of both players....alston+james = bibby
Swift has been around for 6 years and what you see is what you get...a player who was the #2 pick in the draft and unable to "earn" starter's minutes on the Rockets or previously that perennial "powerhouse" Memphis. The promise of potential should be reserved for young players, not six year veterans. I hope that Stro proves me wrong...
am i the only person that actually saw some potential and flashes from frahm? Im not trying to say he was great, but he does some things very well. He started out a little slow, but the few games leading up to his injury he was playing much better. The guy can shoot, pass, fairly athletic, has decent size and give you all he has. overall, he can be a contributor off the bench in spurts.
Sorry friend but you are dead wrong! Alston rarely passed to Yao Ming when he was ready to make his play and score. Rafer most times defered to another player on the wing. or took the shot himself, missing most of his shots 37.9%. I have the tapes to prove it! Being the No.10 in Assists does mean that he was a great playmaker.
I think you're confused and thinking about Bob Sura. In a devoted Yao fan's opinion Alston did a fine job in getting the ball to Yao.
I am not confused , Bob Sura Didn't play last season!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I saw every game Alston has not proved that he is a good playmaker YET! Possibly he didn't have enough confiodence in himself or in Yao Ming. Regardless he refused Yao every game when Yoa Ming was set up and calling for the ball. You only have to look at the tapes of the games to know this. If you are a devoted fan of Yao Ming you would of also noted this fact about Alston.
i dont think rafer is as gawdawful as some would imagine...the quality (or quantity) of players we had last season magnified the problem. basically he could set up plays for....yao. and himself. not exactly a buffet of options there. while his shot selection was definitely suspect, i think he did as best as he could given his abilities. and passing in to yao wasnt always as easy as it sounded. referring back to the scoring options available, teams pretty much knew that 8/10 times the ball was going in to yao. so they responded by fronting or sending half the team at yao to deny him the entry pass. if we get our healthy starters back plus some more help (via trade and/or draft) i think we'll see the true quality of rafer. if not, then ship him off
I don't need to watch the tapes of games because i watched the games themselves, live. Maybe there were some missed opportunities where Alston could have passed to Yao, but I guess I was so disgusted by Sura's blatant refusal to pass to Yao I was willing to put up with what Alston was doing. Certainly you can't deny that Alston did a better job of feeding Yao than Sura did. Hell, I could do a better job passing to Yao than Sura.
\ I am not saying he is a savior at the point but all this crap about how he is a bench player is messed up any guy who can get 7 apg while passing to bowen and bogans is a hel of a good pg and thats what he is. You cant try and judge a guy when he is passing to people who look like the only reason their in the NBA is because they are the owners son!
