Since it seems that the standard for breaking up with someone is to do it in person, that leads me to the question: have any of you been involved in an unorthodox breakup (either being broken up with or breaking up with someone else)? Any phone breakups? Email breakups? Instant Messanger *gasp*?! Any wierd breakup stories? What were your thoughts as you were either giving or receiving the breakup?
[flashback sequence of Jerry and Jeannie at the coffee shop begins as Jerry narrates.] "About a month ago, we were here having lunch, when all of a sudden we both just blurted out..." Jerry & Jeannie: (simultaneously) I hate you! [They both chuckle over the coincidence.] Jeannie: See ya. Jerry: See ya. [Jeannie returns her ring to Jerry, who puts it in his pocket.] "It was unprecendented. I mean, it was the first truly mutual breakup in relationship history." [flashback ends.] Jerry: (continuing) No rejection, no guilt, no remorse. Elaine: You've never felt remorse. Jerry: I know, I feel bad about that...
When I was younger, maybe up until I was about 21, when I was tired of a relationship, I'd start ignoring the girl, and acting aloof until she broke up with me. I only stopped doing it because it seemed like the girls were putting up with more and more of my crap.
Nice one Behad. I though i was going to have a chance to get a Seinfeld quote in before someone else.
Ugh, I hate to be reminded, but phone. Truly unique situation though. She's the daughter of a major political figure, she can't go out much.
I did the phone breakup one time, while I still lived in LA, about 8 years ago. Started dating this woman I met via the personals. After 4-6 weeks of dating and having pretty damn good sex, she blurts out at dinner "I just don't understand why we aren't living together yet". Then, as the conversation progressed, she let out that it was her goal to be pregnant by the end of that year, not because she wanted a child herself, but because she wanted to give her parents a grandchild and they were getting up in age. Needless to say, as a musician, I am wary-er than most, but when this stuff started coming out, the red flags and alarm bells started going off all over the place.
When I was younger I broke up with my girlfriend and told her I was moving out of town (Austin). But I would always see her at restaurants, stores, the Mall. After seeing her for the third time she asked me, while crying, if I lied to her. Of course I told her 'No'.
After you break up, you could always play one of her drunken voice mails on a local sports radio station's morning show and set it to a really cheesy love ballad....say, "Total Eclipse of the Heart"? Just saying...I would never do something like that, though... Right, Chance?
I usually try to break up with a guy in person and handle it like a lady. But there was this one guy that was too emotional so I emailed him and told him that it wouldn't work and changed my phone number. I didn't do it to be mean, I just didn't want to deal with all the drama. BTW.... He is an ex-Rocket!
This should be good. Let the guesses begin. I'm going with Vernon Maxwell. Once prettygirl1908 dumped him he was never the same and went totally out of control.
