I just listened and it sounded like extreme speculation. He said something along of the lines of "maybe with 3 days left in the season, if the doctors say he can do it, he may pinch hit, maybe". It sounded like blind optimism and prayer more than what Cooper actually thinks will happen.
Yeah, I did too. In any event, they were talking the last week of the season and more specifically the final series, and going against the word of Wade and the doctors -- definitely not "in a week or so." On the other hand, Wigginton's absence might not mean that much -- it's starting to look like we won't be playing this weekend regardless.
Yep. That's how I heard it as well. IF there is a pinch hitting situation (Cooper specifically said in the last 3 games of the season), and IF Lee can swing a bat, Cooper may use him. Pallilo tried to pin him down on the last week of the season and Cooper did not sound optimistic.
Right, and after Palillo anxiously tried to pin him down on the last week thing, Cooper didn't really answer and instead said something like "I think we will be playing in October and Carlos will be able to join us".
well coop said the last week or so of the season. SUPRISE, thats 'a week or so' away. Congrats! you are smater than a banana!
The Astros and Marlins are the only 2 teams above .500 (15 teams total) who have a negative run differential. The Indians and Diamondbacks are below .500 but have positive run differentials. Cleveland is +44.
I just got back from the game tonite and the crowds have been downright depressing. I went Tuesday and tonite and MMP was dead both nites. I dont know why people are jumping back on the bandwagon. I will admit that while I am a huge homer and optimist, I wanted them to blow it up at the trade deadline. I never foresaw this.
Does anybody know what the game situation this weekend is? I mean have they been postponed because of IKE or not?
Probably thanks to Cliff Lee. He dominates and they score 6 or 7 every time. I hope he has some ab's sometime in October...
I went tonight and the official attendance was 26k+, but there is no way there were over 26K people there. Some lucky fan won $25,000 when Tejada hit his grand slam. Unfortunately, the lucky fan was not me.
the Astros could drop about 3 more, and still have a good shot. 1 against the Cubs, 1 against the Marlins, and maybe 1 against the Braves. that would make them 92-70. 92 wins might get the job done. if they finish 13-3....... the Phillies would have to finish 13-3 to tie. the Cards would have to finish 14-2 to tie. the Brewers would have to finish 9-7 to tie. if the Stros win out 16-0 they would be 95-67 the Brewers would have to finish 12-4 our schedule is much more favorable for us to finish with any of the above scenarios.
If you listen real closely, that's not what Cooper said. He said that he told Lee that if it was the last 3 games of the season and if he was capable that he wants him around so that he could be used in a pinch hit situation. When Pallilo tried to pin him down to Lee being available the last week of the season, Cooper was not optimistic about that at all.
if you listen even closer......you can hear Clemens in the background, 'I'm coming back for another season'........it's kind of a whisper.....but listen close.
Yeah, mainly because we really haven't blown many teams out. While some of the scores in our losses were terrible lopsided. (rangers series)
